Choosing a MacBook

Investing in a MacBook laptop is a big decision because they are not cheap. However, choosing a Macbook over a PC notebook computer is the first good choice. MacBooks and Mac computers in general give less operational problems and the O.S. for Macs has less bugs and gives it's user less problems than the Windows operating system. There are many different variables to consider when choosing a MacBook and each of them should be weighed according to the needs of person using the notebook computer. These variables will be discussed here...

Macbook Processor Speed

The processor speed of a Macbook computer will determine what types of programs the computer will be able to run. Some programs such ass graphic design and 3D rendering programs will take a faster processor compared to text editors a simple spread sheet programs. Choose a processor with that in mind. Also consider if any gaming will be done with the Macbook. Gaming requires a faster processor to be able to handle the rendering of the game graphics.

Macbook Memory (RAM)

When choosing a Macbook laptop computer another factor that should be considered is the amount of RAM or random access memory it has. RAM is what programs use to operate. The more RAM the Macbook has the faster programs will be able to function and the more programs the computer will be able to run at the same time. If multi-tasking is going be factoring into the regular everyday use of the computer then one with plenty of RAM should be considered.

Macbook Hard Drive

It is a good idea to consider the size of the hard drive when purchasing a Macbook laptop. Hard drive space will determine the size of programs and amount of programs that can be saved on the computer. It will also determine how much video, audio and other multi-media can be stored on the computer. If the computer is going to be used to edit video, audio or large applications, then a large hard drive should be considered as a necessary option when choosing the right Macbook computer.

Other Considerations for a Macbook

Besides looking at processor speed, memory (RAM) and hard drive size, there are some other things that need to be considered when purchasing a Macbook. These other things are listed below...
  • The size and weight should be considered if there will be lots of traveling with the computer.
  • Intense graphics and 3-D animation will require a good video card that has plenty of memory for processing those applications.
  • Wireless connectivity should be considered if there will be a need to access wireless networks where the computer is going to be used.
  • Battery life needs to be considered if there will be lots of use where plugging the computer into a receptacle might not be an option.

Mac is better by far!

WebGazelle says:

I use a PC but I have compared Mac to PC and my next computer will a Macbook.

Ignore the media, PC is better!

Twobit says:

I like the style of the Mac, but I think I'm more used to the PC. I grew up as a kid using a MAC, but eventually migrated to the PC and haven't switched back. Although, I'm using the Mac at college for my graphic arts.
