CAT OF THE DAY!

7/19/07 - Serena! She's one of the upstairs girls. I found her after she crossed my path a few times. I'd been seeing this cat race across a dangerous road a couple of times and had even stopped to try and catch her but she alluded me, and escaped. Finally, I went to our local pet store and there she was! The Fire Department had captured her, turned her in to the Animal Protection Society, and the pet store was featuring her that day as a possible adoption pet. I knew her on sight and sped over to the APS, bought her and then went back and picked her up. She's a lovely cat and sweet. She plays with herself (huh? - I hear you say!). She gets on her back, puts her feet over her shoulders right beside her ears, and plays with her tail in that position. She's wacky and we love her.

All of my cats names are:  Raspberry Jam, PNut Butter, Apricot Jelly, Vincent, Marmalade, Tabatha, Winky, Pinky, Twinkle, Serena, Midnight, Sinatra, Humphrey, Marilyn, and Audrey

I roll photos of all my kitties through this lens daily, so check back TOMORROW for another great photo op of cats!

HOPE YOU GIVE 'ER A TRY!

Cats, cats, and more cats!

I have fifteen cats, believe it or not!

We live in the country - need I say more? I brought one cat from Phoenix when I moved to Washington State. Since then, many feral (wild) cats have taken up residence at our humble home. We have enough space so, I say, why not? These kitties' personalities are diverse and each one is special to us. It sounds crazy and I admit at times it is, however, when I think how life would be out here on 5 acres with no animals, well, I can't even imagine. We've grown so accustom to their cat-antics and sweet ways, honestly, we'd be at a loss without them.

Well, I hope you have fun with this lens. It's a labor of love.

Take care and keep purring! -Susan.

Rolling my cats through Cyberspace

Cats you've seen before...

7/17/07 - AUDREY! She's a very voluptuous young feline specimen. Audrey came via Midnight (more to that later). She's only three years old and has gained in pounds exponentially since she was a baby. She's chubby, let's just say it outright. Audrey is a talker. She will keep you in a conversation for hours if you let her. She's very inquisitive and sensitive. She's a bit of a pest at times - always wanting to be scratched or snuggled or kept secretly under the covers. I've written a poem about Audrey... and here it is:

Audrey the cat

Is chatty bad

Pushing her words

Upon me

%u2026 like I know what they mean.

Audrey the cat

Is chatty bad

Defiant in her demeanor

Walks over me

%u2026 like I want her to.

Audrey the cat

The chatty bad cat

Insists on snuggling under cover

Her nose a very cold wet one

%u2026 lifts it and sneaks in.

Audrey an extremely bad and chatty cat

Learns no manners

Pushes her back against mine

Under the sheets

%u2026 and licks my skin with sandpaper within a cloak of darkness

Then falls asleep keeping me warm.

7/16/07 - Sticky, goo-ey! Pnut Butter! Pnut's story is an amazing one. As an outdoor cat, she didn't understand boundaries and journeyed once too often into the street. It was on this fateful day Pnut Butter got hit by a passing car. The people in the car stopped (a very nice gesture) to take her to the vet. When they came to the first vet, who'd left for the evening, the receptionist said, "He just left," and made no attempt to call him back in for the emergency. So, the women took her to another vet who left the door open to his office. When Pnut Butter regained a bit of her knocked loose senses, she dashed out the door and ran into the woods. Gone!

After I'd searched all night the evening she disappeared, the women came the following to my door to tell me of the horrific news. I set off immediately in search of my beautiful girl. It took three days of searching to find her, but I did! (Amazingly.) On the third day, I went back to from where she'd escaped and headed-off into a different direction. It was at that point I saw a cat staring into a blackberry bramble. When I called for my lost kitty, I thought I heard the weakest "meow" and stopped. I said quietly, "Pnut butter?" It took a moment but she popped her head out and then almost as suddenly she ducked back into the bramble. Although my heart was pounding (because I'd thought I'd lost her forever),
