How to create a better website with small tips from a Professional Web Designer

  • Open a website in another browser window: Simply click on the link that you want to change. Once the bottom properties panel shows you should see Target. Scroll down and click _black and your website will open in a new window.
  • Add a menu bar: Insert/Spry/Spry Menu Bar. Then you select whether you want it horizontal and a drop down menu or vertical with the options to the right side. You can change the color and size the menu bar by clicking SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css or SpryMenuBarVertical.css.
  • Add a page break instead of a paragraph break in the design view: simply shift+enter and you will skip to the next line without a space.
  • Change your bullets
    Normal Circle Bullets: < ul type="disc">
    Square Bullets: <ul type="square">
    Circle with hollow center: <ul type="circle">

    Also, how to add code to a blog or website without it applying the code: instead of < you need to use & l t ; and instead of > use & g t ;
  • Dreamweaver spellcheck shortcut: Shift+F7.
