Melanie's Bio
Melanie Pruitt is an artist who specializes in watercolors. She says, "The movement and dance that occurs between pigment and water, along with the unpredictable results are fascinating to me. Every painting is the beginning of an adventure!"She believes that art is most successful when it touches the viewer's heart. With every painting, Melanie endeavors to draw the viewer closer to the heart of the creator of all beauty. "Whether it's joy, serenity or even sadness - art should make me feel. One of my favorite paintings even makes me cry!"
Melanie has been involved and interested in art all her life. Being a very active person, she invested her artistic abilities in the beauty of movement in diving, gymnastics and the creativeness of garden design. She is also a published author and was a motivational speaker for women's retreats and conferences where she invested her artistic love into creative visual presentations. Most recently, she enjoyed the art of dance. Melanie not only danced in Columbia Dance's "The Nutcracker Ballet" for 6 years in Vancouver, WA., she also began and taught the creative dance program for children at Columbia Dance.
However, a rare chronic illness changed her life. She is no longer able to actively pursue these artistic outlets. Being determined not to let a chronic illness strip her of life and art, she turned to a lifelong dream of learning to paint with watercolor.
A self-taught watercolorist, Melanie began with a solid basis in visual art, having taken classes focusing on drawing, color and composition in college. She now paints daily, creating and selling art of various sizes. She especially enjoys miniature and small format painting, but also creates larger pieces and has recently begun to create on a new product - watercolor canvas.
One of Vancouver's emerging artists, Melanie has art placed throughout the US and internationally. She was recently awarded two Artist Choice Awards in 2006 and five Artist Choice Awards in 2007.

My Musings
Winter Wonderland
I have been in such a snow painting mood! I think it's because it was the weekend we always cut down our lovely fresh Northwest Christmas tree - and last year, it was sprinkling snow while we were picking it out. This year, though, it was much warmer - and yet it was amazingly lovely. We were there at the end of the day as the sun was setting. The wet trees created a mist and I felt like I was walking through a Narnia forest!
But on my paper, it's been a Winter Wonderland!!
Visit my Etsy shop: http://thecreatorspalette.etsy.com to see three new winter paintings - and ACEO, a 4x6 and a 5x7 that comes with a double mat!
