A Tribute To My Dad!

(Duke Ellington Is Pictured Here).

This lens is really a tribute to my dad, (as well as Duke Ellington, Jazz King), who taught me to love jazz, as well as how to drive a car (not a perfectly blissful experience, like jazz is), and how to appreciate all music.

He could pick up an instrument and play it "by ear" and now so can I, especially with my violin!

As I listen to the music on this lens, I think of the middle room on the second floor of the family residence where my dad had his stereo.

I think of him, with eyes closed, as he listened.

He especially loved to "hear" Duke Ellington.

He seemed to be praying.

I do believe he was!!

Duke Looks A Little Overwhelmed!!

My dad would go and hang out in a room all by himself and listen to his Duke Ellington records for hours.

When my mother took up meditation, my dad said, "But I already meditate!"

Dad claimed to hear something new every time he reflected on the Duke's melodies. He contemplated the musical jazz giants for weeks at a time and talked to us about them.

I was raised on Duke Ellington and all the giants of jazz.
