Monty Python Flying Circus

Ok, there I have said it, the gauntlet is down. I remember taking my brother, under protest,  to see the Monty Python's Holy Grail. He was upset and said that if it wasn't funny he would go and watch some Stallone movie in the next theatre. Well, he was laughing during the Moose credits, and he peed himself when the Monty Python troop came riding over the hill banging coconuts! 

I decided to put this lens up because every year for Halloween I dress up as Killer Rabbit! This year I will have to repair my killer bunny outfit because the halloween outfit is in taters, because of all the fights I have gotten into with other killer bunnies.

The Holy Grail , according to one critic makes Ben Hur looks like an Epic. Britney Spears makes the village idiot look like a genius. Ok, enough of the critic's garbage. Who cares. This was Monty Python's 2nd best movie - everything that they did before or after or in this life or in a previous reincarnation or future reincarnation or in any other Dimension or in an alien life form does not compare to the Holy Grail. From the opening credits pertaining to the moose and his costume to the sound of King Arthur riding over the hill into the audience's view to reveal Arthur's banging two coconuts together to simulate the sound of horses. Later interviews with members of the troupe revealed that the horses were not in the budget and that they had to make due with the coconuts which were in the budget. They also dressed up as women because they couldn't afford to hire real woman for the parts. That really put a damper on my sexual fantasies. I thought they dressed up like women because they were living out their fantasies about being transvestites. My favorite scene in the movie was the killer bunny, killing several of King Arthur's entourage because they thought it was a harmless little rabbit. Another funny part in the movie was when one of the peasants was engaging King Arthur about his power being ordained by some Aquatic tart. This movie is so funny that you start laughing at the opening credits especially about the swedish moose.

Brian of Nazareth (Graham Chapman) had a humble beginning in a stable on December 25th, just a few stables down from you know who. The three wisemen that visit him and distribute the gifts that they have brought, realize their mistake when the star they are following moves a little. The wisemen grab back their gifts and go to the right stable. Brian grows up an idealistic, disillusioned young man who hates the Romans. He meets Judith while he is listening to the sermon on the Mount, and he immediately joins the People's Front of Judea. The People's Front of Judea, is one of those factious groups that spend more time fighting one another rather than the Romans. Reg gives Brian his first Revolutionary task - write graffiti on the palace wall, he had to write "Romanes eunt domus" which is bad Latin for "Romans Go Home". While he is writing this on the Palace walls, a Roman Guard (John Cleese) catches him and instead of taking him in for defacing the Palace, scolds him for his bad Latin grammar. He tells Brian that he must write "Romani ite domum" 100 times, and if he doesn't he will cut off his family jewels. So, Brian's fortune improves after this, as he writes this 100 times on the palace wall, and the guards in the morning try and arrest him he is chased through the streets. In one incident while he is trying to lose the guards he mutters some pseudo-religious garbage. After the guards have gone he starts to go to Judith's, and finds that a small crowd is following him. He tries to lose them, he loses one of his sandals and the crowd proclaims that this is indeed a sign that he is the messiah. Brian makes it to Judith's and they have a wonderful time together. When he wakes up there is a larger crowd outside that will follow him anywhere.
This is a film where people are encouraged to think for themselves, and Brian is telling the crowds not to follow him and think for themselves, which they refuse to do. The final scene is during a mass crucification and one of the guys suggest that Brian always "Look on the Bright Side of Life" - there are actually positive thinking groups that will sing this song!
