I really love this time of year! As a kid it was the magic of the lights and the feeling of peace that would envelope everyone -- even if it was sometimes inauthentic. Like every kid, I came to enjoy winter and the feeling of the holiday season. Snow falling on my front yard and hoping that it would "stick", sleighriding in the backyard, foot freeze. Unfortunately, while we're trying to recover from flood and hurricane winds here in the North West, the East Coast is taking a real wintery hit. We are thinking of all of you on the East Coast as we create this week's newsletter.
This week we are highlighting NEW YORK Artist Althea Adsitt . She takes us on a culinary exploration of her city. I hope that you find something interesting and cool while you are enjoying (or not) the first big snow storm of the season.
Our intrepid Zip continues her Elf Diaries. She is being interviewed on Lesbian News at the end of December, and we'll remind you when Zip's interview gets aired! We're telling you, another lesbian thespian is getting ready to hit the big time, and you'll have known her since the beginning. We invite you to check out the blog.
Seattlites don't forget the Wholesale Sample Sale 07 runs till DEC. 30th and benefits Gift for life American Foundation For Aids Research. I am going to the WSS 07 this weekend. I still have some last minute things to pick up so that I can make the holiday mailing deadline.
Supporting local artists and shop keepers means a lot to your local folks. If you can shop local support your Independent artists and shopkeepers.
Don't forget to keep the suggestions coming. You can submit them here. AND, forward our newsletter to someone that you think might appreciate the information we are providing.
Stay warm and cool this week!

Recommended Things to do:
Brooklyn Art Museum - 1st Saturday of the month. Dancing, music, art, free!
Jacob Riis Park - When the weather is warm. Coney Island-like but way more chill.
Coney Island - before it gets torn down!!! This is the last year ? And while I'm on the subject - Brighton Beach! Especially in the winter for Polar Swimming. Watching is ok.
Brooklyn Heights Promenade - overlooks the East River
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
Prospect Park - Boathouse and the whole darn park in general
St.Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO
West Side Highway on Saturday or Sunday Afternoon.
Metro North to Cold Spring for hiking trails. Bear Mountain and Breakneck Ridge.
I could go on and on. Can you tell I love Brooklyn? Actually, Manhattan is just one big mall. Brooklyn is, and has always been, the real soul of the city. Lower East Side HAD something going, but everything is changing. It's all shopping and college kids now. Sigh. Go to Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem or the Bronx to experience the real New York City. Walk between cultures, seasons and all sorts of demographics to have your perception really flip!

My partner and I love Hotel Deluxe in Portland and Dina just called us to let us know about their New Years Special and we wanted to let you know, so here it is!
Count down to the New Year with the Glamorous at Hotel deLuxe! Bring in the new year with live music from the Ben Darwish Trio, elegant hors'd oeuvres & of course, champagne catered by Gracie's and the Driftwood Room. The celebration would not be complete without party favors - waiting for you in your room upon arrival. To give you some extra time to recover from the festivities, we are offering a midmorning brunch and a late checkout of 2 p.m. Note: 72-hour cancellation policy applies.
If you are staying in Seattle this weekend try the Hotel Max in downtown Seattle. They have some great specials running including a Needles and Ink special which I am partial to. Another tattoo would be just grand in my humble opinion. Also, they have an awesome happy hour that our friends Dennis and David introduced us to when they were here from D.C. They loved Hotel Max so much they extended their stay.
For something a bit more spicy in a "different" way try the Tacoma Hotel Murano's Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down special. Do I need to say more?
