Are you under the influence of Green, Independent & Natural brands?

The GIN Lady passionately supports the refreshing new approach to all things eco. A green lifestyle can be sexy, exciting, colourful and entertaining.

It's all about RESPONSIBLE DESIRE!

Live life to the full...

Living a GIN lifestyle is easy when there's so many desirable alternatives on offer: Ethical fashion labels are increasingly chic and stylish; Natural beauty now surpasses or equals the quality of mainstream products without the chemical bomb; Fairtrade sex embraces saucy adult toys without the harmful phthalates, to sexy organic lingerie; Eco chic decor is on the up with high quality paints, eco wallcoverings and design-led furniture; Green Parenting is so much easier with a wealth of healthier and safer alternatives. And your Seasonal larder full of local and/or organic foods is scrumptiously diverse. Every corner of our lifestyles now has a gorgeous GIN alternative ...

Excited or Scared?

How do you feel about the flurry of eco headlines hitting our media spaces? The carbon crisis, sea level rise, overpopulation, poverty, famine, crime, river and ocean pollution, genetically modified foodstuffs, desertification, coral bleaching, energy crisis, the list goes on ...

How do you feel about the headlines?

Scared and fearful by the headlines and their impact on our quality of life

Whisky Man says:

I get worried about greenwash - for example websites setting up claiming to represent all things ethical, sustainable and generally "hippy" when in fact the hard-nosed businesspeople behind them have left a trail of misery and financial hardship. Those involved with Nicola Thomas (the so-called Gin Lady) may have turned to harder spirits themselves after being left in large financial difficulties by her last web-based venture - Mama Mag. The administrators have wound up the business, showing while she ran up almost £70,000 of debts, she had no assets - meaning she walked away leaving many people trying to fill financial holes running into the thousands (ore more). Not sure how that sits with her fluffy, ethical approach...

Excited we can improve our quality of life via technology/social change

stevehunter says:

All things in moderation...meaning green is good but some dangers concerning current state of evironment are overblow. I also believe that many companies are calling products green that may or may not be green...and were the manufacturing processes used always 'green'?

Graceonline says:

Today's headlines reported science findings that global warming has reached an irreversible stage that will last at best three thousand years. The good news is that we still have time to avert total disaster if we all act right now.

I'm deeply encouraged by all the web sites, Squidoo pages and blogs addressing global warming. I am grateful that our new president appears to have global warming on his radar.

Will our collective efforts be enough to save an environment suitable for humans and other mammals to thrive? It's up to us--every single one of us. We may have run out of time to save the world as we know it, but we do have time to make things better.

Lester Brown, in his Plan B 3.0 points the way. According to him, we have about 11 years left to make the changes we need. If we make them, we'll all have a better life and a better world. No more poverty. No more polluted oceans or air. That's the exciting news. We can afford it (Brown even has a budget). We can do it. We must act now.

Some of my fave must-visit websites

These online destinations sum up RESPONSIBLE DESIRE beautifully...

Great eco businesses are springing up everywhere. While I'm not affiliated to these, I know them personally one way or another, and would love you to check them out. You won't be disappointed!

PURESHA - ORGANIC BEAUTY
Puresha is at the cutting edge of pure beauty, and bring us a carefully selected, exclusive range of luxury, organic and natural beauty brands to indulge in. I adore their perfumes... they stock luxe labels Patyka and Tsi-La; They boast a stunning range of natural beauty products; And best of all, puresha's site oozes with WOW factor. Puresha is a must visit!

MIOCULTURE - SUSTAINABLE DECOR
Mioculture's philosophy is "Responsible Desire", one the GIN lady shares. Their tagline says it all: Beautiful, Sustainable, Affordable. Mioculture's designs are highly innovative, offering unique eco wallcoverings, lighting, seating, furniture and clever storage. This is eco chic decor at its best.

KIRSTEN MUENSTER - ETHICAL GEMS
Kirsten Muenster, based in San Francisco, crafts ethically sourced materials into highly prized jewelry. Most jewels that we commonly invest in come from questionable sources and wreak havoc on communities and the environment. This is far from the case with Kirsten Muenster's enviable collection. Her custom designs take your breath away.

DAVINA HAWTHORNE - ETHICAL HAUTE COUTURE
Davina Hawthorne has to be one of the most talented eco designers around. Based in London, Davina conjures up the most creative couture and ready to wear designs I know. I simply can't wait to interview her. Davina's cutting edge designs are both sculptural and sustainable.

COCO DE MER - EROTIC ETHICS
Coco de Mer's website is nothing short of sumptious. This is erotic luxury with ethics. Not surprising when you consider its the brainchild of the late Anita Roddick's (Body Shop) daughter, Sam. Coco de Mer is unashameably uninhibited about sex. If you are too, and desire fair traded goods, then Coco De Mer is the perfect destination.

DAYLESFORD ORGANIC - SEASONAL LARDER
Daylesford Organic sets a high standard when it comes to food. And I like their diversied approach: Home deliveries, Farm Shop, Cafes and Delis. I want to devour the whole delicious lot. Daylesford capture the best in food: Local, Seasonal & Organic

ARAVORE - ORGANIC BABIES
Aravore Babies fashion and bedding is made with great care and ethical materials: Fairly traded organic cotton and merino wool. But it's their designs that set Aravore apart. So cute you wish your little munchkins didn't grow up so fast! And so good the next in line won't mind the hand-me-downs!
