The Grand Canyon
Here in Arizona over the span of hundreds of thousands of years, this great jewel was carved from rock by the mighty Colorado River.
Welcome to the awe inspiring Grand Canyon!
Can You Believe Your Eyes?
A Brief History

This beauty was carved out of the earth by the current of the mighty Colorado River over the course of centuries and centuries.
Located in Arizona USA, this gem measures 277 miles long
The first European to view this sight was by García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.
This canyon was a mystery and largely unexplored until the journey of a one armed civil war veteran named John Wesley Powell.
John Wesley Powell set out in four small wooden boats & 9 men. Upon the completion of the journey he finished with only 6.
The Grand Canyon was among the first National Parks to be created.
Although being afforded protection by many federal designations since 1868, what we know as the Grand Canyon now did not become a National Park until 1919.
Much of the Grand Canyon lies within the national park but some area remains and is conserved & respected by the local tribal athorities.

"The Grand Canyon Skywalk" For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon_Skywalk Music from CD: Sacred Spirit: Chants And Dances Of The Native Americans. Track:Counterclockwise Circle Dance There are claims that original song and music is not Native American but rather from Native tribe of Norway. Here is the link to the other version; So far this claim sounds very much plausible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHiU36GDaEA
