The Hofbrauhaus is not the Place for a Quiet Romantic Evening
For everything else, it's fantastic!
If it is subdued lighting, soft music and stimulating conversation you are after, I would strongly recommend you seek a venue other than the Hofbrauhaus to meet your requirements. If, on the other hand, you are looking for lively entertainment, good beer (bier) and some traditional Bavarian music, costume and food, this is the place for you! The band (pictured right in their traditional lederhosen) tend to play quite loud, a mixture of traditional German classics and well known songs from around the globe. On the occasion of my most recent visit, they gathered round one table and played, "Happy Birthday To You!" They are quite happy for visitors to gather around taking pictures and even recording videos. The Sounds of The Hofbrauhaus

An Image of me with a Young Lady Selling Bretzes in the Hofbrauhaus
I am the one on the right!
There is always a young lady or two making their way around the Hofbrauhaus in traditional Bavarian costume selling bretzes to those enjoying their beers. Bretzes are a form of bread rolls but be warned that they are liberally sprinkled with salt crystals which of course can be somewhat hazardous to your health. This is of course deliberate in order to give you a thirst and ensure that you purchase more beer! It is a simple matter, however, to rub most of it off with the ball of your thumb and enjoy these delicious bread rolls at their best. More Munich Guides here on Squidoo
