So, What Is The Hottest Hot Sauce In The World?
From the Editor of The Hot Sauce Collector
Every endeavor that man undertakes is eventually taken to its most extreme form, where the boundaries of what is possible are tested and explored. In the world of hot sauce, this most extreme form is the quest for the hottest hot sauce in the world. Underpinning this quest is the fact that hot sauce is by its very nature already an extreme pursuit, making the quest for the hottest hot sauce even more intense and significant. The leading figure in this question is a man named Blair Lazar, the principal behind Blair's Death Sauces and the maker of the hottest hot sauce in the world -- Blair's 16M Reserve.
This article focuses on Blair's 16 Million Reserve, The Hottest Hot Sauce In The World. For a complete list of The 20 Hottest Hot Sauces In The World, Click Here.
Blair's 16 Million Reserve -- Summary
Blair's 16 Million Reserve is widely recognized as the hottest hot sauce in the world, with a measurement of 16,000,000 scoville units, the most commonly used measurement of "Hotness" in spicy foods. This measurement is significant because 16M is the maximum theoretical reading on the scoville scale, meaning that Blair's 16M reserve is 100% pure capsaicin. Production of this hot sauce (it's not actually a hot sauce but a chemical compound) is extremely limited, with only 999 bottles ever produced. Each bottle is signed by the man himself, Blair Lazar.

our discussion of Blair's 16 Million Reserve continues below:
Upon closer examination of the bottle, it becomes clear that Blair's 16 Million Reserve is not a hot sauce at all, but rather a chemical compound in crystalline form. Inside the bottle is a small vial that contains several granuals of pure capsaicin -- each granual is about the size of a piece of rock salt.
Just to give you a sense of the heat that one granual of this stuff is capable of doing to your body, be forewarned that even one particle is capable of making an entire pot of soup inedibly hot. The author of the HotSauceBlog has a review of Blair's 16 Million reserve in which he wears protective gloves to extract one crystal with tweezers and boils this crystal in a pot of tomato soup. The end result is a level of heat so intense that the soup had to be thrown away!
