HERE'S WHAT I THINK

The Keurig vs. The Tassimo

The Keuring wins hands down!

I love our Keurig. My husband and I went out and bought then returned 5 coffee makers (I am not kidding) before we brought our beautiful Keurig home. Yes, I am a little over-the-top about this miracle machine. Why you ask? Well my husband only drinks about 5 cups of coffee a week and I was so sick and tired of making a pot of coffee that went to waste. The Keurig is perfect for people like us. We want 1 cup not a pot. We don't want some frilly Cappuchino/Latte crud, we just want coffee, tea and occasionally hot chocolate.

The Keurig is great because it can be left on all day. The water is ready when you want your beverage and the cute little K-Cups are really economical. You can get tons of brands and clean up is non-exisitant. Here are my Keurig favorites. Did I mention that I love this thing!

The Keurig vs. The Tassimo

Yes, you're right! The Keurig is the greatest!

azpoppy says:

We love the Keurig as well! My husband's office had the Tassimo and while it does have some nice features, the Keurig worked out much better for us.

stephen says:

i understand that the Tassimo coffee pods are not sealed as they are in the Keurig. This is one of the main selling points of these one-cuppers. Coffee gets stale very quickly (in a few days) and the K-cups ensure that you are getting a FRESH cup of coffee regardless of how long you have the pods around. If you use up your pods quickly, i suppose this would not be an issue..

hlkljgk says:

i think it'll be our replacement

France says:

The K-cups are very expensive compared to the coffee puds for the Tassimo. I have a Keurig and kind of regret my choice because of that. I drink 3 cups of coffee a day.

javaqueen says:

I have a Keurig and I love it! BUT, I have to admit that the
Tassimo intriques me. It would be nice to have the different
array of drinks, like a cappuccino.
But, I hear that there are new specialty coffee drinks coming
for the Keurig.
I think I will wait and see what is in store before I buy a
Tassimo.

Whistler94 says:

Keurig FTW!~

cd says:

I have both machines (thanks to ebay) and prefer the Keurig simply because it accomodates large travel mugs/cups better. With the Tassimo, I have to remove the whole drip tray and have to clean up the counter top after brewing a cup this size.

Pekemom says:

Yes, my vote goes on the Keurig side. I never had a Tassimo, altho it looks beautiful. We got our Keurig last October, price being a factor, and never looked back. Their array of coffees, teas and hot chocolate (gotta try their new white chocolate cocoa!) is terrific. I use it at least twice a day!

konsum says:

My vote goes definitely to Keurig. The main problem with Tassimo is that you have very limited choice of coffees that you can make. With the Keurig you have nearly 200 different K-cups to choose from (plus you can also use your own coffee as well if you want).

fefe says:

Tassimo is overrated.

Peggy707 says:

The Keurig rules! It is the best coffee pot around always ready to give you a fresh cup of tea or coffee. I have tried the Tassimo and hated it. I took it back after a week because it did not work right. I love the Keurig!

No way, Monkeybrain! The Tassimo Rules!

Mark Dimo says:

keurig offers easy clean up, but the tassimo is the only one that provides specialty drinks like cappucino and lattes.

if you are purely a coffee drinkier coffee pods are available in bulk at costco for keurig: 80 paul newman branded pods for 35.00

or you can get the equivalent of 80 tassimo pods in 16 packes at 5.00 each, which comes ot to 25.00 at Target

In bulk, the Tassimo coffee packs come out cheaper.

the only bone have to pick with the tassimo is that after making a latte or cappucino, there is a little more cleanup involved since the cream spills a little.

In the end, the Tassimo wins for me because my wife and everyone else seems to favor the cappucinos. I like purely coffee, so ether machine works best!

Tom R says:

Tassimo is the only single cup machine that uses real milk for its cappuccinos, lattes, chi lattes, and now hot milk chocolate. Keurig only has a cappuccino flavored drink. I have a Jura Capresso $1800 machine at home, but we use the Tassimo at work. When comparing coffee prices, remember thatyou can buy your T-disc at Target for about half the normal price. Your single cup of coffe now cost about 25 to 30 cents and you can have a cappuccino for about 50 cents. If variets of coffee are what you want , perhaps the Keurig is for you, but if you want real cappuccinos, espressos, and chi lattes, then there is no comparison - you must get the Tassimo.

Cynthia says:

I own a Tassimo. I love the cappucino's, latte's and recently the caramel macchiatto flavors. Hot chocolate and hot tea is also well-brewed in the Tassimo. My first machine lasted about 2 years; then just wouldn't power up one day. I called Tassimo, and since I had registered my machine when I first purchased it, they sent me a replacement machine free of charge. I have recently upgraded to the newer version made by Bosch. It is sleeker and more attactive on my counter. However, I am not pleased with the regular coffee it brews. I have tried Henrys, Seattle's Best, Gevalia, Maxwell House and Starbucks, which are all Tassimo coffee's. All are weak, thin-bodied and almost burnt-tasting. I would love to try a cup brewed by a Keurig machine, just for comparison. I will keep my Tassimo until it wears out. Guests are amazed by it!

rick says:

Tassimo all the way.

Dan says:

I had tried both, The only thing I hate about the tassimo is the cup size matter. You cannot put a big cup in it. But the variety of coffee and the taste make it the winner for me.

Wayde says:

I have tried them both, and if you want a large cup of coffee the Keurig just makes it weaker. The Tassimo bar code technology makes sure your coffee is always perfect, and it makes a large cup without any adjustments. Yes, there are fewer coffee varities, but with Starbucks as an option, do you need all those other lesser coffee brands?

Scott says:

I vote for the Tassimo!

I find the Keurig coffee to be only slightly better than instant. I have had coffee brewed by an office version of the Keurig and by my Dad's home unit. I only drank the coffee because I had no other choice. I found the tea products in K-cups to be un-finishable. I found the Flavia, btw, to be equally bad.

I bought a Tassimo for my company after an employee raved about her Tassimo. I was so blown away by the taste and variety that I convinced my wife to get me one for Father's Day. Father's Day is next week but I already opened it!

The Tassimo is slower and louder, but to me, the end-product is so vastly superior I cannot believe that there is even a discussion about it. I have had T-discs of Seattle's Best, Starbuck's, and Gevalia coffees; Gevalia cappucino, and Twining's chai. They have all been really, really good. There is really no comparison to the "Kool-Aid coffee" that K-cups produce. My office is convinced, too. The 2-a-day trips to Starbuck's have stopped. Tassimo has improved my company's productivity. Viva Tassimo!

One negative: the first machine I purchased did not work properly. I exchanged it (at Bed Bath & Beyond) for another a few hours later without issue. Bed Bath & Beyond, btw, has a great selection of Tassimo flavors.

I am now in Tassimo heaven...
