The Magick Box

What Is The Magick Box For?

The Magick Box is the place where I store my words and my thoughts. The place where I ponder on life and its many aspects, no matter how mundane. The place to be me.

The Magick Box contains a chronicle of my woes, my successes and my creative endeavors as a student of the Humanities Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific, as a member of various online creative groups and as simply myself.

The Magick Box also serves as a place for the literary trinkets I gather in my journeys thru other people's words. I often save quotes, poems, lines and other words that fascinate, amuse or inspire me. I hope they fascinate, amuse and inspire you too.

What Kind of Journal Contents Will You See?

I am a big fan of Joss Whedon and his works, of literature in general and of histories, personal and medieval. I often try my hand at writing poems and essays related to these topics, and I love reading about them in the works of others. I also post some of my photographs and digital scrapbook works, which I enjoy making and serve me when I am at loss for words.

When it comes to Joss Whedon, I will sometimes post fanfic, musings, news and interview clips concerning his shows or actors and actresses from the shows, particularly BtvS/AtS or the new-eagerly-awaited show, Dollhouse, starring Eliza Dushku (also known as'Faith Lehane' from BtvS/AtS)

When it comes to books, I love reading historical fiction, histories, mysteries and fantasies. Some of my favorite authors are Sharon Kay Penman, L.M. Montgomery, Catherine Marshall, Agatha Christie, David Eddings, Piers Anthony, J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman and many others.

Lewis Carroll once said,

"I'm begining to think that the proper definition of "Man" is "an animal who writes letters."

Seeing the Extraordinary

...in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary...

    Things that Sustain Me

    {a list poem}

Books to learn from and to imagine from,
    Words to play with,
    Coffee to relax with,
    Tea to calm down with,
Music to fill the silence with beats,
Family & Friends to fill the empty spaces with love,
And a neverending Magick Box to carry them all in.

    Neil Gaiman once said,

"I was one of those kids who had a book wherever I went. Whatever I did, I had a book. My family would tease me because I'd read books walking down the street and almost never walk into anything.

I think that the most important books in many ways that you read are those you read as a child."

    My Newest Creative Effort

    Digital Scrapbooking

The latest digital work I've got my hands into is digital scrapbooking.

It's like regular paper scrapbooking but using Photoshop, and instead of paper, and the other scrapbooking trinkets you buy in stores, you use files made to look like them. Put them together and you have an image file (or printed page) that looks 3D but isn't!

The first thing I made was a cover for one of my school notebooks, using kits, papers and elements from:

    Scrap Orchard
    Marie Stones/Free Digital Scrapbooing
    Jeri Ingalls

Let me know what you think about The Historian when you're finished with it: I loved the book but it took me two borrowings from the library to finish it!

Actually, I did get the title of this lens from that song. :) I felt it perfectly described my lens and my blog, my own little corner of the InterWebs World. :D

My Little Corner of the World reminds me of a song from The Gilmore Girls by the same name.

I don't know about the girl from the Philippines that paints in Coffee. I'd love to know more.

You have a great start to a lens here. Please email me when you add more. Your intro. module intrigues me.
