Google's Adsense program is considered the "granddaddy" of the online advertising money makers for people with blogs or websites. It's usually the first choice for monetizing a website or blog...

Before applying for Adsense, strongly consider setting up a free Google G-mail account, it will only help with productivity for your website or blog. You are then able to tap into all sorts of great tools and features, such as:

- Google Analytics (to measure your site traffic, view visitor stats, determine keyword searches).
- Gmail account: Set up a gmail account to correspond with your site or blog visitors.
- Google Adwords - Purchase ad campaigns to promote your site and increase traffic.
- Blogger - Set up a free blog to start making money or blog about your website to increase visitors!

And those are just 4 of the great things Google offers you for FREE. Taking Advantage of those makes plenty of sense!

You may want to look into these legitimate and profitable moneymakers as well. They range from other advertising programs, to social media sites, to sites that pay you for signing up for free offers or surveys!

1) Cash Crate.com - is a site that pays you for completing surveys, signing up for free offers/trials, referring friends and also gives you % rebates for buying through retailers they support (iTunes and WalMart are amongst the 10 plus trusted retailers). No matter what you blog about, you're going to find a great selection of programs with products to show your visitors. You will then profit if visitors head to the company's site and buy products, or even if they just visit the site sometimes! It's a great additional moneymaker besides just Google Adsense!

3) DealDotCom - a new website which sells internet marketing tools and resources. Each day the site offers a unique product and it sells until sold out, or the day ends. DealDotCom offers free signups and a great affiliate program where you earn 35% of all 1st level referrals. On top of that, you will earn that commission rate FOREVER, not just a few years. So it pays to signup, and refer friends and others who might be interested.

4) Gather - The basis of this site is you earn points for doing several things including:

- giving and receiving comments
- referring new members to the site
- joining groups

The point system and formula for how points are scored is not presented, however the site is legit. With points accumulated you can cash them in for rewards such as gift certificates to Borders and Home Depot. Any member who can earn 3,000 points within 1 calendar month, may be invited to Gather's cash program and starts to earn money rather than points. Not too shabby just for commenting. If you belong to Myspace think of how many comments you may have left for friends. No incentive, but at Gather there is. The Monetizer has already received one $20 Borders gift card and has a $25 Home Depot card on the way. In addition, Monetizer is trying its best to get into the 3000 club for the cash.

5) ShoppingAds - a great 2nd revenue option to add to your blog or website. ShoppingAds displays Ebay auctions on your pages (based upon relevant keywords you supply). The random ads will show on your site and if a visitor goes through and sets up a new account or bids to win an auction, you earn commission! Right now all signups receive $25 in their account to start! Signup is free and everyone gets approved!

6) Yuwie - A paid form of Myspace. It works on the basis of referring your friends and new members to join for free, as well as them referring others to join and so on..You get 10 levels worth of commission/earnings. The other part of this program involves getting as many page views as possible, which is also helped by getting others to join through you!

WidgetBucks - A New Money Source! 

Monetize your Blog or Site!

Leave it to monetization master John Chow to discover and unveil yet another great new way to make money online, known as WidgetBucks. After reading Mr. Chow's post, Monetizer decided to head over and sign up for an account just for kicks. Mainly because it looks like it could be something to replace either Auction Ads or Adsense with. However, it probably would not trump Adsense earnings in any sense, unless your site is really about promoting certain products (mp3 players or music, books, dvds, family products, sports items etc).

The way WidgetBucks works is by placing a graphics style banner on your site (various sizes) and then you receive money based on clicks (not sales). Very similar to Adsense. It's yet to be determined if this program is ok to run on your site with Adsense ads, as Google can be quite picky! The minimum payout for WidgetBucks is $50, similar to Auction Ads. Also similar to Auction Ads, they are giving you an automatic $25 in your account to start things off. Payments are done at the end of each month either by a check sent or PayPal deposit.

WidgetBucks gives you about 12 categories to choose ads from, as well as sub-categories in each of those (examples: media, family, sports, video games and cars). If your blog is about Making Money or Financial topics, the product choices seem to be tough to make. However, WidgetBucks does offer an option you can select for it to "crawl" your blog or site, meaning it will match ads to your content. That could be interesting to see :)

There's also multiple color schemes to choose from, however white seems to be a base color in each of them (borders and part of the ad is the color you choose, with the background white). Here's an example of the 300x250 rectangle WidgetBucks in basic blue:



If you've been banned from Adsense or not happy with the performance of Auction Ads on your site, WidgetBucks might make for a good alternative money source for your blog or site. It's worth being a member and at least experimenting. Perhaps this might be your brand new meal ticket :)

Sign up now at Feedburner.com for a free account. Feedburner is a management system for your blog's RSS feed and can bring your blog more traffic. Feedburner can find your feed address pretty easily just by typing in your blog's URL at the main page when you register. From there, Feedburner offers you a host of cool and free options to help people subscribe to your Blog's RSS feed.

Google Analytics

The Google Analytics tool helps to measure traffic stats for your blog or site, simply by inserting code into your blog template. Analytics then can present data on web search terms that brought your blog/site traffic and tell you daily/monthly visitors, time of visit and even the general geographic locations of your visitors. A powerful tool for measuring you blog's rise or fall in success.

Entrecard

Many bloggers in the business are jumping on to use this free tool already. Entrecard acts as your 125x125 Virtual Business card to promote your blog. You can use a standard logo from the Entrecard site, or create your own, then upload it. From there, sky's the limit in terms of blog promotion. You earn Entrecard credits when you visit other blogs and drop your card off, or if people visit yours and drop their card off. You also earn credits as people pay them to advertise on your blog. Your blog price rises or falls based on demand. It's a great system for those just starting out in blogging to get noticed and build up a reputation with traffic!

MyBlogLog

An online community and collection of blogs on every topic imagineable. This is yet another way to bring traffic and also measure stats for your blog. My bloglog provides a snippet of code to insert into your blog and begin tracking traffic and visits. It also provides a cool widget to show the latest readers of your blog (if they are registered with MyBlogLog). You can upload a small icon to represent your blog and it will display if you visit other blogs using the widget. Use an interesting pic to capture attention and you may benefit when you read high traffic blogs. Also, join other blog communities online to start promoting your blog.

Addthis - Social Bookmark Widget

You may not be tremendously familiar with social media sites such as Digg.com, Del.ic.ious and Reddit, but they also can bring your blog new visitors, fans and subscribers. Installing this small bit of code will let you place a "Bookmark this" button on your blog. That button will allow readers to send your blog story to various social media sites should they want to save or share your headlines. Yet another potential way to bring in new readers. In addition, addthis offers a great button for RSS subscribing (first use Feedburner as mentioned above, but this can be a very clean button to use and allows your readers to subscribe by several popular feed readers).
