Oni Supports Charity

Make it Right
In December 2006, Brad Pitt convened a group of experts in New Orleans to brainstorm about building green affordable housing on a large scale to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Having spent time with community leaders and displaced residents determined to return home, Pitt realized that an opportunity existed to build houses that were not only stronger and healthier, but that had less impact on the environment.
Room to Read
Room to Read partners with local communities throughout the developing world to establish schools, libraries, and other educational infrastructure. We seek to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education is a lifelong gift that empowers people to ultimately improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries, and future generations. Through the opportunities that only an education can provide, we strive to break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.
Team Reeve
The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.
Lance Armstrong Foundation
The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites, inspires and empowers people affected by cancer.
Heifer International
Heifer International is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help end world hunger and poverty through self-reliance & sustainability.

Oni is helping to Change the World

Please, please, please check out some of the charities that I support. These people are working so hard to make life better for everybody. I support them and donate not only my money, but my time as well. I pray every day for these people and send all of the positive thoughts I can to them as well. Please take a look at their websites and do the same. One person CAN make a difference!

Oni is a Daddy!

Even though my wife and I aren't together any more, there is one thing we agree on whole-heartedly: Our kids ROCK! Thats right, Cassidy, Asher, and Brennen are the most awesometastic kids in the universe and are very much loved by not only their parents, but a huge host of others as well.

Being a daddy is one tough gig, let me tell you that right now, but it is so worth it. My kids are my soul and I want them to be raised right, which is one of the reasons Kristen is homeschooling them. I get to play my part during the summer, which is when they are in my care. We do a lot of yard work together and help the grandparents feed the birds and maintain not only the bird feeders, but the garden as well. Then we go inside and sit down and read. Our current book is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. We will eventually get into the rest of the Lord of the Rings series, mainly so that I can show my boys how to be a Rider of Rohan. I have always identified with those guys and I want my boys to be good horse riding knights!

Second Life

As you may (or may not) know, I am a resident of Second Life. "But dude, what is Second Life?" you ask. Well, Second Life is a 3D online virtual world created by its users. Inside Second Life (we call it "In World") there are a lot of things to do. You can visit virtual reproductions of historic places like the Louvre. You can shop at thousands of user owned stores. You can meet hundred, if not thousands of people. There are dance clubs, bars, beaches, and even cruises. You can participate in the Second Life CSI: New York area to solve murders. There are book readings from famous authors such as William Gibson. There are even live music events like concerts and festivals.

All of this and you create your own avatar and dress him or her however you want. You can create your own content as well. Make your own clothing, furniture, or even your own home. The possibilities are endless. You can even buy your own land, open your own store, and make money... Yes, REAL money. You can cash in Lindens (the monetary unit in SL) for real money. You can, in theory, live in world without money, but you'll have no house or land and you wont be able to buy anything. There are TONS of freebies out there though. I lived the first couple of months on the freebies I got from the different areas I hung around in.

There are basically two types of membership, FREE and PAID. With a free membership, you get to enjoy just about everything Second Life has to offer. You can still purchase Lindens with a free account and you can still customize your avatar. With a paid membership (you can pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly) you get a weekly stipend of $L300 (or 300 Lindens) and the ability to own your own land.

Check out THIS LINK to join up. Yes, if you sign up via this link, I will get $L2000 (2000 Linden dollars), but only if you sign up as a paid member. The beauty of it is that if you do become a paid member, you will get your own referral link as well. That means that you can get $L2000 when people you refer sign up as a paid member.

Make sure if you sign up (whether free or paid) that you send an IM to Augustus Dayafter, that's me. I would be happy as a lark to show you around and even hand over some free loot!

If you are already a Second Lifer, drop by Seraph Enterprises in Caledon Brigadoon and say hello, I love to chat.
