Top Ten "Fish" Movies

Guaranteed to lure you

This top ten list is incomplete. I could only think of eight movies having to do with fish in some way. I need some of you to come up with the other two. The movie has to be fish related. That could mean it has the word "fish" in the title or has at least one memorable scene featuring a fish or anything remotely related to a fish. Don't forget to also vote for your favourite movie by clicking on the up arrow of your preferred choice. You can also vote down your least favourite by clicking on the down arrow. I'll also consider knocking off one or more of the current eight if I get more than two great submissions. See what you can reel in!

Fish: Real Pets or Just a Hobby?

There is considerable debate about what the criteria is when it comes to calling something a pet. Some people think that it can only be called a pet when you can take it for a walk or it can sit on your lap. Others consider fish as pets, whereas some would look at it as just a hobby. Where does that leave the pet rock?

Are fish real pets or just a hobby?

Pets

hlkljgk says:

pets :)

Shane says:

i own two very large oscars, and i would have to say they are pets... they are very interactive and sociable w people. a hobby doesnt greet you when you wlk by or get excited to see you... they are more like little dogs in a way then something pretty to just look at. model planes don't say hi, baseball cards don't get excited to see you, but my fish do. I would consider a planted only tank a hobby i guess, but having an animal with a personality definitely counts as a pet

ichthyoid says:

Real pets, especially Oscars and Cichlids. They can definitely develop unique personalities.

raul says:

when u have a fish in an aquarium its no more a fish is now your partner your friend and he love u like u love him

azac says:

Fish have been known to recognize their owners and perform tricks for them.

Hobby

AndyGold says:

Ans - Pets or Hobby?
Fish can be real pets to some people. It depends on the individual. My kids have names for all of my fish!

However, for me, my tropicals are (I don't like to use the word 'JUST'), a very important pastime and HOBBY. I get great pleasure and enjoyment from my hobby!

OK! However....

Brill, I love the Oscar feeding time vid.. Only keep fresh-water tropicals myself, rarther like the food in that video!

So as I sit here crying, I dry my eyes and decide to make my own Sqid lens, (later, but definately will do), of my tropicals.

Pherhaps I'll feed them bits of Oscars all chopped up into small bits! (Only Joking).. A really fantastic lens, I love it, 101% - I think, that when I do my tropicals lens, I'll link back to this lens without doubt.

My first cichlid arrived via a friend in a plastic bag of water. It was a mozambique that I kindly named, 'Mo.' Mo was kept in a small goldfish bowl until it out grew it, and my spouse got an aquarium for her. We provided the fish with friends, and soon learned that Mo was a female. She 'nested' in the aquarium, waiting for her mate that never came. The spouse was so enamored with the fish he purchased another aquarium for the kitchen counter.

That is when we aquired "Oscar." Oscar was small when we got him, but grew to be quite big before the spouse decided to part with him. Oscar and I grew to be quite good friends. I had him trained to head up out of the water to take food from my hand. He knew me. I would walk by the tank, and he would stick his head out of the water.

This is an excellent resourceful page dedicated to the mighty cichlid.
