My favorite way to chill a martini glass is to fill it with ice then top it off with cold water. Let the glass sit as you prepare your martini, then dump the ice and water just before you're ready to pour your martini into the glass. This is a fantastic no-fuss way to chill your glasses to perfection.

Now that your glass is chilling nicely, it's time to start shaking things up. Some people just pour their gin and vermouth into a martini shaker with ice, shake it up and serve, which is fine. However, some of us like just a touch of vermouth and getting just the right amount can be tricky.

I learned a great martini mixing technique to get the perfect amount of vermouth. Fill your shaker with ice and add about half an ounce of vermouth. Shake it up for a few seconds and strain it out into the sink. The amount of vermouth left with your ice is just perfect!
