What a difference a year makes? With a new coach and a new offense to implement the Redskins were favored to be last in their dvision. Returning world champions the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys were all favored to go to the playoffs and after the drubbing the Skins took at the hands of the Giants in week 1 it looked that way.

Now after four straight wins including two wins on the road in their division, people are revising their opinion of the Redskins. Coach Jim Zorn's energy has infected his team and they are playing with a spirit and confidence not seen in Washington in over a decade. Maybe the biggest surprise is the outstanding play of Jason Campbell.
Campbell has six touchdowns and no interceptions and has looked incredibly poised while learning a new offense. The defense, even without Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor has made notice. The ever steady Clinton Portis looks to be the career workhorse he has been, already over 500 yards for the year. This Washington fan couldn't be happier. With the next three against Cleveland, Detroit and St. Louis (not necessarily in that order); the Redskins could be staring down the Steelers on Monday Night Football at 7-1. Lets hope to continue the success of the Zorn era. Get ZORNED!

Sometimes things put the overall world, and in this case season in perspective. With the Redskins at 5-6 heading into an important game against the Bills, no ones mind could have been completely on the game at hand. Sean Taylor had been shot in his home days earlier and many Redskins had just learned of his unexpected death. Taylor,s sudden death, like his play on the field was hard hitting. Cornerback Fred Smoot said he had not a one dry eye on the first two defensive drives looking back for number 21 and not seeing him. Jason Campbell became choked up as he spoke about it a news conference. Overall everyone in the situation was utterly shocked that the enforcer for the Redskins was gone. The game Sunday was marked with a solemn moment of silence and the Redskins ran the first play with only 10 players on the field, no one occupying Taylor's safety postion as a dedication to the fallen teammate. Number 21 towels were handed out and the defense played with a vigor and aggressiveness that has been their trademark all season.
The Redskins played a great game and were up by 2 late in the game 16-14. Buffalo drove and on a personal foul by Joe Gibbs, calling two consecutive time outs to ice the kicker, handed the Buffalo Bills 15 yards and the game. It was heartbreaking for the team to not pull out the victory for their missing brother. Because all of the team feels they are a family and that they had lost a member of their kin. The Redskins attended Taylor's funeral Monday and then play the Bears tonight. One of the main questions still lingering is, how could this have happened and why to him? The four suspects have been apprehended, one as young as 17, and have been connected to Taylor's home invasion a week before. Many, like Cardinals cornerback Antrelle Rolle believe Taylor was targeted because of his wealth and celebrity. One thing that doesnt change is that he was someones son, someones father, somones significant other and most of all a upstanding human of strong character. The Redskins season may end on a low note or maybe they make a run for the playoffs, either way Sean Taylor's death reminds us that even superheroes on the field of play are people just like you and me.

Everyone is raving about this team and it shows as they movewd to the number three spot in the rankings, behind only the undefeated Titans and the defending champion Giants.
