Generating ideas is easier than you think...
Each one of us has the ability to generate great ideas.
So the more you know on a specific subject the easier it is to create new ideas. To a degree this is true however, this isn't always so because often great ideas are generated by combining two seemingly unconnected things into something completely new.
What is important is being able to see these "connections" that really helps.
According toe James Webb Young in his book "A Technique for Producing Ideas" there are 5 steps to follow in generating ideas.
Here's a quick summary of these 5 steps:
Step 1: Gather together raw material.
Step 2: Digest the raw material.
Step 3: Put the problem out of your mind.
Step 4: Eureka! out of nowhere the idea will appear!
Step 5: Get your idea out there and see if it fits.
So there you have it, in essence this is how to generate ideas, pretty simple isn't it?
