Rose Street: Edinburgh New Town's Entertainment Centre

Rose Street runs parallel with and adjacent to Edinburgh New Town's most famous thoroughfare, Princes Street. It is a narrow street of pubs, restaurants, cafes and small shops. It has a well deserved reputation for the variety of establishments it has in the past offered and continues to offer - if to a somewhat lesser extent than yesteryear - to both locals and tourists alike.

The Rose Street Brewery is located at 55/57 Rose Street and is split over two levels. The ground floor area is the public bar while upstairs is the restaurant. There is also bar food served, however, during the week for those who prefer eating in the bar-room atmosphere.

Please note that all that follows on this page is written from my personal experiences. I took the photographs; I sampled the beer. This is not an impersonal guide done by Internet research, it is absolutely genuine and real. I hope you may have the opportunity to find this out for yourself.

The Public Bar

The public bar in The Rose Street Brewery is deceptively spacious, descending some way back from the frontage. The bar itself is long and extremely well stocked with a variety of beers, wines and spirits.

Rose Street Brewery Interior The popular Edinburgh ales Deuchars IPA and Caledonian 80/- are to be found at the bar on a regular basis but there are also a series of guest ales featured from time to time, based upon the manager's personal recommendation. It is worth asking for more information on any such brews you may see available and perhaps trying one out for yourself. There are a lot of delicious and satisfying ales from small breweries available in Scotland!

Amazon's Online Stores

Amazon has to rate as one of the biggest retail outlets on the Web, if not in fact the biggest. Most of us will have heard of them at one time or another, but how many of us have actually shopped with them, or even explored the possibility of doing so?

I have been a customer of Amazon for several years now. In that time, I have purchased from them chiefly books, CD's and DVD's, often making incredible savings without having to leave the comfort of my own home, but there are a whole host of other products available to buy in the same way.

As a company unburdened by the considerable overheads of maintaining High Street or Mall premises and all the expenses associated with same, Amazon are able to pass such savings on to us, their customers.
