Welcome to The Sapphire Moon on Squidoo!
Hello, my name is Zoe and I am the operator of The Sapphire Moon, eBay store and etsy.com handmade items shop.
First, let me tell you a little bit about my eBay store. I have been in business for a few years, specializing in trendy plus size fashions and accessories for women. Earlier in 2006 I began selling big and tall clothing for men as well. I started small (as I'm sure most eBay sellers do!) selling clothing from my own wardrobe that I had outgrown or that just did not suit my current tastes and styles. I was a HUGE success! After a few weeks of raiding my own closet for inventory, I branched out into the retail world buying for resale. I do still sell items from my own closet, but have mostley turned to small shops and other retail stores for products. My eBay store is open 24/7 for all your shopping needs and I list NEW auction items WEEKLY! Check back often for great styles!
Also, see my eBay blog for news and current happenings in my eBay store.
Next, let me tell you a little about Etsy. etsy.com is an online marketplace for all things handmade. Buyers and sellers alike can search by keyword, store name (like, The Sapphire Moon), or even by COLOR for a list of items matching their request. Forums are available to discusss all things Etsy. Both buyers and sellers frequent this area, and there is a HUGE wealth of information to be had all around. Everyone is very friendly, and quick to step up and offer helpful suggestions for improving your store, or just about anything you want to talk about.
I am very new to Etsy, having only opened my store this December 2007. My current craft repertoire consists of cell phone/mp3 player charms, flower head wreaths, and hemp jewelry. I hope to keep learning new crafts and will soon feature work done by 'guest artists'. Guest artists will include my friends and family that have a special talent they would like to put out there for the world to see. I am still ramping up my inventory to post in my storefront, so please check back on my shop often for new additions. Have a special request or color scheme for an item? Drop me a conversation through Etsy and I will get back with you to work out the details.
You can also find me on MySpace for more information about me and other sellers as friends under The Sapphire Moon Send me a message telling me you saw me on Squidoo and request me as a friend :)
In addition to these year-round ventures on eBay and Etsy, I run a tent at the Ft. Myers, FL Medieval Faire every year selling my handmade flower head wreaths. The Medieval Faire runs for 2 weekends in January, typically the 2 middle weekends of the month. For 2007, the Faire will be running January 12 & 13, and 19 & 20. If you live in the SWFL area, stop by my tent and tell me you read about me on Squidoo for a discounted price on my items! See the BIG ARROW link to visit the Faire website for more details.

Here is a look at my current and soon to be posted head wreaths available on Etsy. If you would like one of the ones shown here and it is not for sale on Etsy yet, just send me a conversation on Etsy and I will list it as a 'reserve' item just for you!
My Cell Phone/MP3 Player charms
I create each and every charm with uniqueness in mind. No 2 charms will ever be exactly alike due to the materials used. Many glass and lampwork beads are never made the same way twice; patterns are slightly off, shape is a little odd, etc. I like to buy in bulk on basic glass beads...mixtures of ALL types and sizes. I usually get 'oddball' beads that are irregularly shaped...misfits if you will! LOL! These make for the best unique pieces because of their non-standard shape.
If only I knew something about blown glass or how to make lampwork beads...then I would have an ENDLESS supply of OOAK beads all the time!
Hmmm....maybe something to look into for the future...
My Flower Head Wreaths
Let me give you some background on my flower head wreaths...I have been creating my flower head wreaths for about 10 years now. I started creating them as accessories I would wear with 'hippie' outfits in high school...that whole retro, flower child thing going on :) I made a few, then did not create them again until I stopped by the Medieval Faire a couple years later and saw them for sale here
So I thought to myself, "Self, these were easy for you to make for personal use, what's to stop you from making a go of it here?"
The next year I was asked to help out a friend with her booth as a vendor at the Faire, so I asked her if I could bring a few items of my own to sell...
WOW!!! An overwhelmingly positive response. I did about $200 in ONE DAY with my items! I had supplies with me to make special requests, and boy did I get requests! I even sold the wreath off my head to a customer that day. I asked around about the cost to setup there for the next year, partnered with another friend to share the booth space and split the cost...another highly successful venture! My friend that split the costs with me, unfortunately, did not do anywhere as well as I did...I felt bad, but that is the risk you take in business sometimes...I took the same risk, as my success the year before on that one fateful day may not have been repeated this next year.
That was about 5 years or so ago...and I am still going strong! The Medieval Faire in Ft. Myers, FL is my absolute FAVORITE time of year! Even if I barely break even, just covering my booth rental for the 2 weekends....it is FUN just being there and seeing my friends that I actually only see when I go to the Faire and camp for the weekends.
Care to join me? Click on the BIG ARROW link down my page for information on the Ft Myers Medieval Faire and look for me, Zoe, at my booth.
My Hemp Jewelry and Keychains
On my hemp jewelry and keychains...I have been working with hemp for almost as long as I have been making my headwreaths, about 8 years on this. I started in my sophomore or junior year in high school and have been making it on and off ever since.
A friend in high school made stuff out of hemp, I thought it was cool and wanted to learn. I went to my local craft store, bought a small starter kit and learned from the instructions that came with it. I enjoyed it so much that I started building a case full of beads of all materials: bone, wood, plastic, glass, etc. Found some great little, simple charms too...even got a great glass lampwork mushroom pendant that is on a necklace in my personal collection. I would even get charm necklaces or bracelets on clearance from stores and take them apart for the charms!
Later on, I bought a hemp weaving design book that had a lot of intricate designs and began making more than just simple box knots. This really helped me branch out into bead design on my pieces. Beads could be interwoven between several strands, free flowing through a section even!

Fetching new data from eBay now... please stand byFt. Myers, FL Medieval Faire
Sponsored by Riverdale Kiwanis
In addition to my endeavors on eBay and Etsy, I work a booth every year at the Ft. Myers, FL Medieval Faire. The Medieval Faire is generally scheduled for the middle 2 weekends in January. I just came back from the first of these two weekends, and I gotta tell you, IT WAS SOOOO FUN!!
I have a blast every year camping out for the weekend with friends and making new ones. I only see these friends at this event each year. Yes, all of them live locally here, but we are all so busy with the rest of everything we do all year long that we just are not able to keep in touch :(
The Medieval Faire is setup at Lakes Park in S. Ft. Myers. The venue for the Faire had been moved to Veteran's Memorial Park in Lehigh Acres for the past 3 years due to Hurricane Charley wreaking havoc at Lakes Park, and this was the first year back after they cleaned up and revamped. WOW! What a difference! Nice turf grass in a WIDE OPEN area. No problems setting up all the booths for vendors, stages, games, food, jousting and human chess match areas.
The Veteran's park in Lehigh was a nice large area, but complications with those running the park plus not being centrally located to Cape Coral, Ft. Myers, and Naples really brought down attendance. And, of course, low attendance equals low money for the vendors and those sponsoring the Faire. Now that Lakes Park was ready to receive us....we're BAAAACKKKK! You really could tell the difference in attendance by looking around and seeing the crowds milling about, and of course based on how much money you took home each day!
One more weekend to go! I will post a few photos here of the fun when I get home next week. Check back soon!

My Favorite Places on the Web
- Old Navy
- I, personally, think Old Navy has some of the best fitting clothes at great prices. My closet is FILLED with stuff from them!
- Alloy
- Really cute juniors styled clothing. They work for the moderately plus sized girl also, going up to size 25. In misses, a juniors plus 25 is about a 22, many times will fit a 24.
- Payless Shoes
- Payless is a grea source for inexpensive, yet still stylish, shoes for all. They go up to women's size 13 in some styles online, most all other styles up to 12. Plenty of wide widths in all styles as well.
- Vistaprint
- GREAT business cards at GREAT prices. FREE item specials running ALL the time!
- Allrecipes
- My favorite website for all my cooking needs. I get some of the BEST recipes here!
- Home and Garden Television - HGTV
