Summer is Here! It isTime for Those Great Summer Time Sales!

Back in Victorian times women wore their shoes to look good, no matter how painful it was. Now, thanks to more and more women being in the workforce, more comfortable shoes are the the order of the day. In Victorian times woman's choice of footwear was determined by the limited choices and the deliberate restrictive style of her shoes which inevitably restrained her from abandoning her gender roles. Women wore shoes that were determined by the dominance of the males, who wanted pretty women who behaved like ladies. Now a days, while women still have a way to go to be equal, are more independent, can buy their own shoes, and therefore buy the shoes that they will have to work in, go to nightclubs, or more casual social interactions. While the feminist movement played a major role in social change for what women wore, it still came to being practical, and women entering the workforce emmasse forced many of the changes to women's clothing in the workplace, bars, restraunts, nightclubs. Women now had economic clout, and could force men to listen to what she wanted to wear. The torturous high heels and all the horrible undergarments went the way of the dinosaurs.
Comfortable shoes are the necessity of every women. Designers are listening to women - she has more disposable income now than ever, she has more power than ever - but she still has a way to go! But hey, she can buy the shoes that she wants, and as many as she wants! She can buy shoes for every conceivable circumstance that she wants to buy them for.
She has come along way from the Victorian times, where the male determined what she wore, what she said, or how many children she had. She is now an independent individual, that can express herself with her clothes.

Men have been blessed with wearing shoes for the purpose that they were designed for, rather than shoes that bind their feet so that they look "beautiful". Men have worn shoes that have been more practical than women. Men wear shoes for work, hiking, golf, jogging, sports, dancing, etc. While there are stylish shoes, they have to be comfortable shoes.
