What is The Sixth Sense?

The Sixth Sense can be defined as an unexplained power of intuition by which one is aware of things that are not seen, heard, touched, smelled, or tasted. Basically it's the ablility to receive or send information beyond the realm of the five senses. Synonyms could be foresight, intuition, clairvoyance, telepathy, second sight, prescience. The term was coined by German researcher Dr. Rudolf Tischner whose book "Telepathy and Clairvoyance" was written in German in 1920 and published in English in 1925. The Six Sense Explained

Extrasensory perception (ESP) is defined as the ability to acquire information by paranormal means independent of any known physical senses or deduction from previous experience. The term was coined by Duke University researcher J. B. Rhine to denote psychic abilities such as telepathy, the sensing of thoughts or feelings without help from the 5 known senses, precognition, the knowledge of future events, and clairvoyance, the awareness of people, objects or events without the help of the 5 known senses. ESP is also sometimes casually referred to as a sixth sense, gut instinct, a hunch, a weird vibe or an intuition. The term implies sources of information currently unexplained by science. Popular belief in ESP is widespread, but skeptics are still not persuaded that there truly is a sixth sense because of the lack of reliable theories and information.Britannica Online Encyclopedia, Retrieved Oct 7, 2007.

The existence of ESP abilities is highly controversial, and no scientifically conclusive demonstrations of the existence of ESP have been given. Parapsychology explores this possibility, and some experiments such as the ganzfeld have been suggested as good evidence of ESP, but the scientific community outside parapsychology does not generally accept the existence of ESP. The Movie "The Sixth Sense"

The Sixth Sense is a 1999 psychological horror film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It tells the story of Cole Sear, a troubled, isolated boy (Haley Joel Osment) who claims to be able to see and talk to the dead (with the famous line, "I see dead people"), and an equally troubled child psychologist (Bruce Willis) who tries to help him. The film established Shyamalan as a writer and director, and introduced the cinema public to his signatures: his appearance in cameo roles and his affinity for twist endings. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

About itzdeev

Hello.  My name is Denise, but most people call me Dee.  I'm interested in lots of things and I have a variety of lenses to prove it.

I've been a fan of gymnastics since I was a little girl and I remember watching Mary Lou Retton in the Olympics way back when...

Another major interest of mine is the paranormal. I've always been fascinated by the paranormal. I'm constantly reading, researching, watching the latest TV shows, documentaries and movies about paranormal stuff to learn everything I can. I am especially attracted to haunted lighthouses and hope to investigate some in person and possibly write a book about it.

Another of my goals is to attend a ghost-hunting session with TAPS - I think they are the coolest!

P.S. I'm also a huge fan of Hanson!
