Do Traffic Exchanges Really Help Promote Your Website?

Traffic Exchanges are quite a controversial method for getting Visitors, or traffic, to your website. Many people say they are spam sites and then you have many people that make a living totally off of Traffic Exchanges. So what kind of marketer would I be if I never tested the method myself! After the big news of Google banding anyone that uses a Traffic Exchange with Adsense, I thought I would take a closer look into this advertising method.

I created 2 identical sites~ one I used the standard method, doing what Google says works. The second website~ I joined over 100 traffic exchanges, and "surfed" one hour per day for 45 days. Can you guess what happened? The first site to this day has a page rank of zero, and not one purchase. The second site has a page rank of two, and has made several sales, all from Traffic Exchange Visitors.

So my best advice to anyone who wants to market their website, should INCLUDE Traffic Exchanges in their day to day marketing methods. ~Your conversion rates will be lower than other advertising methods, but remember you are just using TE's to get a higher Alexa Ranking and some much needed search engine traffic.

~Should you pay to Upgrade? Only when there is a great special. Be patient! Many TE owners will kick out a super special every now and then. I received a lifetime pro membership for $1.00 last month. So it really does pay to read your emails.

~Should you buy credits, banner impressions,solo ads etc? Only if they are dirt cheap, because TE's are very un-targeted traffic. For example,some sites offer 50,000 credits for only $2.00. So if you where to send 1000 visitors a day to your site, you will have almost 2 months of Advertising from only one Traffic Exchange!

~Make a Splash Page or Squeeze Page. You only have 20 seconds to make a good impression.
~Rotate which Traffic Exchanges you surf each week. This way you will have a fresh new audience to promote to.

~Read your emails from your Traffic Exchanges owners. Just about every TE offers a special day of the week for you to earn bonus credits.

~Traffic Exchanges are also a great place to find new sites and products to help you build a better website. You want believe how many free ebooks, software, links, and friends I have made through Traffic Exchanges.
~Keep a list of which Traffic exchanges you love and which ones you hate. This way you can delete the accounts that you hate, so you don't fill up your inbox.

~Set a schedule! Trying to be a member of 50 or more TE's can be quite difficult. I try to surf at least twice a week, and I set a limit. Either a time frame or once I hit a certain number of credits.
