The Transformers - Original 1984 TV Series

The first series of The Transformers, also known to fans as Transformers Generation 1 (or G1), introduced the popular animated series and toy line.

The Autobots and Decepticons, during the great Cybertronian War, crash landed on earth. Millions of years later, geological activity revives the warring factions - the Decepticons want to strip the earth of its vast energy resources, and the Autobots seek to protect the inhabitants of earth from that fate.

Transformers: Headmasters (Japan 1987)

Transformers: The Headmasters was the first Japanese Transformers series and picked up after the 3rd season of the original cartoon, taking place in 2011. However, the producers disregarded the story told in the 3-part "Rebirth" from the original series and retold the origin of the Headmasters from scratch.
In Japan this series was followed by Super-God Masterforce in 1988.

Transformers: Masterforce (Japan 1988)

Transformers: Beast Wars (1996)

Like many fans I had doubts about this animal version of Transformers, but the digitally animated Beast Wars series grew on me pretty quick when it originally aired. With it's dedication to story development, style, and impressive animation, Beast Wars is one of the best Transformers series.

This series was redubbed for Japan, with more comedy in the scripts. If I can find these episodes of the Japanese Beast Wars II on DVD I will add them.

Beast Wars Transformers - The Complete First Season

Two spaceships, one manned by benevolent Maximals, the other by evil Predacons, crash-land on a pre-humanoid planet while en route to Earth. Their crews assume indigenous animal forms to protect themselves from an overabundance of natural energy, transforming into robots to do battle. The Beast Wars begin in this four-disc set...

Transformers Beast Machines - The Complete Series

The four-disc set includes all 26 episodes from its two seasons, commentaries on three episodes, one with story editor Robert N. Skir and legendary Marvel Comics artist Marv Wolfman, who helped develop Beast Machines, and two with Skir and writer Steven Melching; Skir and Wolfman are also featured in separate interviews, as are voice director Susan Blu and voice actor David Kaye (Megatron).
