Transformers: The Headmasters was the first Japanese Transformers series and picked up after the 3rd season of the original cartoon, taking place in 2011. However, the producers disregarded the story told in the 3-part "Rebirth" from the original series and retold the origin of the Headmasters from scratch.In Japan this series was followed by Super-God Masterforce in 1988.

Like many fans I had doubts about this animal version of Transformers, but the digitally animated Beast Wars series grew on me pretty quick when it originally aired. With it's dedication to story development, style, and impressive animation, Beast Wars is one of the best Transformers series.
This series was redubbed for Japan, with more comedy in the scripts. If I can find these episodes of the Japanese Beast Wars II on DVD I will add them.

Transformers: Beast Machines (1999)

The anime-styled Robots in Disguise premiered on Fox Kids September 8th, 2001. Shounen Megatron and his evil Predacons arrive on Earth with one goal: Destruction!
