Is it possible to make money online? In a word YES.
The truth is a huge number of sites ARE Scams and ask for money for information that will supposedly make you rih by yesterday. YOU SHOULD NEVER PAY OUT MONEY FOR INFORMATION!

There are a few select sites that offer you genuine opportunities to make money. You won't get rich quick, but you will be able to increase your income a little, maybe even pay for a nice weekend away, or buy that new bed you wanted.

At paid survey websites you get paid to complete surveys which get e-mailed to you. The surveys usually consist of a few basic multiple-choice questions.

You will have to complete a basic 'Interests Profile' when joining a paid survey site so they know the kind of surveys to send you. Typically the average money paid per 20 minute survey is around £3.

Ciao is probably the leader of all paid survey websites, with over a million registered users. The website not only pays you to answer surveys but it also pays you to write product reviews...

Paid Surveys
After applying to join Ciao, you will need to login to your account online to activate the surveys. You do this by answering your 'Basic Interests Profile'. This is a list of questions related to employment, family and lifestyle. These questions are asked so that Ciao knows which kind of surveys to send you, as they will only need to survey specific markets and certain groups of people. You can complete this by logging on to the Ciao website with your new username and password, and then click the 'Surveys' link at the top right of the screen. Complete the sections of questions on screen (should take around 15 minutes) and then within a few hours or a day you will start being sent surveys to complete by e-mail.

Types Of Surveys
If you complete your profile fully you should be sent 3 or 4 surveys per week, but this will depend on the type of person that you are, and will also depend on the demand for market-research. The surveys sent can be based on anything; from household products to Internet websites. Ciao will send you an email with a clickable link that takes you to the survey, which will be opened in a new window in your Internet Browser. The e-mail will state the amount that you will be paid should you complete the survey and also an estimate for how long it should take to complete. The rewards vary from about 70p to as much as £50 in some cases, and the surveys take aprox 5 and 30 minutes to complete.

Unanswered Surveys
When Ciao send you a survey to complete, you usually have around 3 or 4 days to complete the survey. If it isn't completed within this time limit then usually the survey will expire, as enough people will have probably already replied. If you miss a survey, or just can't be bothered to reply to the survey, then you won't miss out at all. Obviously you won't get paid for that particular survey, but you will still be sent other surveys and won't be punished for not completing the last survey. At Ciao you are under no-obligation to complete any of the surveys sent to you, but obviously if you don't then you won't make much money from the website.

You Gov is a British online market research company based in London. Although their name suggests that they are a government-funded initiative, they are actually a privately funded company, even though their surveys do tend to have a political theme/bias to them. You Gov invites individuals to join their polling club and voice their opinion. They make their money by conducting surveys measuring public opinion and selling them on to a variety of different companies. Their client base is made up of newspapers and magazines (i.e. The Sunday Times, The Observer, The Mail on Sunday & The New Statesman), television stations (i.e. Channel 4, LWT) & other companies and institutions such as the NHS and Greenpeace.
