What they don't tell you about the SGR Affiliate Program
Get back the price of your briefcase in four easy sales! That's the call on The Science of Getting Rich (SGR) site. If you've come here, I bet you've been there.
It seems like a dream come true, but at the same time, almost too good to believe. It may have stopped you purchasing the briefcase because where there's smoke, there's fire, right?
Maybe not so.
I am a member of the affiliate program, and I want to give you run down on what an affiliate program is, and, how this in particular one works. I also want to give you an idea of the pitfalls you might encounter, and how to overcome them, because the chances are that you are new to this whole Affiliate Marketing deal, and only have a vague idea of what it's about. There are things you can do that will make your life easier and help you become a success.
I do not have an axe to grind at all, for those worrying that I am painting an overall negative view of Affiliate Marketing. I like SGR; and I believe the law of attraction should be explored more fully. What I'm hoping to do here is fill in the gaps and give you some perspective away from all the hype.
What Is An Affiliate Program?
To put it simply an affiliate program works on the concept of leveraging. A merchant will leverage their time by getting others to promote their goods, or services, in return the affiliate gets a cut of the profit. It is a good investment on the part of the merchant because it allows them to concentrate their efforts on the product rather than on the business of marketing.
It's a win-win situation for all involved when everything goes right. The system of affiliate marketing works well because it allows the little guy a chance to make an income, and it's easy to break into with very little training. I think the SGR team was wise to move in this direction for their program, since everyone benefits from the system.

How does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Your job as an affiliate of SGR is to match people who are after more information, and want to work more closely to fully realise their Law of Attraction potential, with the product itself. In essence you are giving the consumer exactly what they want. It sounds easy enough, but how do you do it?
There are a variety of ways via the Internet to promote goods and services:
Article Marketing
Email Marketing
Pay Per Click Advertising
Forum Marketing
Free Advertising
Paid Advertising
Some of these methods are more costly than others. With Article Marketing and Pay Per Click (PPC) you need a good knowledge of keywords to use them effectively. If you don't know this you could lose money with PPC, especially. This is because you bid on the keywords, and to get the right exposure can be expensive if you don't know the techniques around it.

Free - no payment at all. This is the basic Affiliate Program which you can join for free without buying the briefcase. To find it go to the bottom of the page and click on "Affiliates."
Premium - Again, you do not need the briefcase to join. Instead, you click on the same link as above and then purchase the premium affiliate program. This gives you more tools to play with.
Purchase the Briefcase - This is the recommended option, because the best way to promote an item is to know it intimately. Go to the sales page and press on the purchase button.
What will you get for your money?
It depends fully on which level you join at, but at all levels you are given tools to help you promote the program. These include articles on the psychology of selling, form letters for emails, banners, websites that can be altered for your needs and so on. I am including a screenshot of my affiliate page to give you an idea of what the affiliate program looks like:

What Don't I Get?
The one area I believe the program falls down with is specialist knowledge of the ever-changing area of Internet Marketing. There's a lot of information on how to write copy and how to promote, but not the ins and outs of Internet Marketing itself.
For example: You need to know how to do keyword research. It's not fully explained in the affiliate area. You need to know how to best place an ad for Adwords using long-string keywords. If you don't you could lose money hand over fist. In the resources box at the bottom of this page I will give you some additional resources that will make up for this lack, and assure that you do have the full tools to promote SGR.

It is a program with generous compensation provided on more than one tier. You have more than one way to join, and it provides you with a lot of material to get you started.
What it doesn't give you is insider knowledge on how the Internet works for affiliates. This can leave you out of pocket if you touch and Adwords campaign. It's buyer beware in this regards.
I think overall this is one of the best affiliate programs out there as long as you make it your business to find out the additional information you need. See the resources for some alternative places to get that information.
