My name is Alex from freshalex blog and I am going to share my tips and techniques I use when working with Adobe Photoshop. As well as share other peoples tips so that you can improve your work. The lens is all about designing and making digital art using a number of programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
In the "Improving Your Skills" section I included on of my own posters that I design for a contest. I included a video to show the making of this poster from start to finish, so that you can see what my processes are and perhaps learn from them.

Photoshop tutorial - How to Apply a Tilt Shift Effect on a Photograph
Tilt Shift Photography is the latest 'big thing' in the photo world. It uses a very shallow Depth of Field and is used to make a big scene look like a small toy seen. Tilt Shift Photography is difficult to create in camera. A tilt shift lens is needed and these are expensive. Here is a video tutorial to show you how to create a tilt shift photograph with a few simple steps.

Photoshop Tutorial - How to Create Obama 'Hope' Poster Effect
President Obama's 'Hope' poster is one of the most recognisable pieces of street art of all time, and is being called a cultural phenomenon. Created by Shepard Fairey, this poster became instantly viral and played a huge part in the success of Barack Obama's Presidential campaign. In this tutorial you'll learn how to apply the same effect to your own photo using nothing but Photoshop.

Photoshop Tuorial - How to Draw a Digital Landscape Using Photoshop
To achieve the results in this video you need to have a drawing tablet like a Wacom Tablet. It would be hard to make this drawing using a mouse.
This step by step video show you from start the basic shapes and values, blocking in shape, assign colors for painting to create early conceptual painting and refining detail for the final concept painting.
In this video it is assumed that you have some knowledge of drawing and painting skills. One suggestion that I can give is to learn basic art, drawing and illustration techniques. This will help you with your creativity and help you to layout a nice design.

When you enter Photoshop competition, you are committing yourself to explore, experiment, and to push you creative boundaries. You are given a challenge to do and the fact that you are competing against other people gives you that motivation you need to make something outstanding.

- Hey Alex, Nice! I've been a Photoshop fan for about 4 years, but am very experienced in drafting, drawing and painting in the studio as well. You have to be to be any good. (At Photoshop or any other graphics suite)
I'll have to make an 'artistic' lens ASAP, but meantime check out my lens that shows my invention!

- I try to use a lot of photos on my lenses. My expertise with photoshop is minimal. I used it mostly to re-size and to crop. It's good to get ideas on other ways to use it.
