Women's Bathing Suits

From the retro look to the new cut outs of today's fashions, women's bathing suits have come a long way. Here are a few ideas on what type of suit you should wear, according to your body type and colors.

One Piece Halter Suits

One piece halter suits are good for most any shape body. These accentuate the upper portion of the body by brining the attention to the plunging neckline, and avoiding the hip and tummy areas. For those not as enhanced in the upper area of the body, this will also help to give the illusion of a larger bust line by bringing in the waist with an empire waistline on most suits.

Two Piece String Bikini

The two piece string bikini has made a huge comeback in recent years. From the low rider and hip huggers of the 60's to the most popular trends of today, this type of bathing suit offers little to the imagination. Tops range from 4 inch triangular patches for a bra top, to the always popular bandeau tops of today. The normal top should cover all of the breast area, in order to keep from having wardrobe malfunctions in public. Adjusting the strap around the midsection is easiest to achieve the desired look. The regular string bikini should be worn with caution: Many women are not model thin, and therefore the look can differ from person to person. The string bikini bottoms are easy to adjust for size, and therefore the shape of the bottoms is what to look for. The larger and fuller bottoms are best for women who have an accentuated back side. For those women with smaller backsides, the thinner look of a Brazilian cut is best. This helps to bring shape to the bottom, and also accentuates the smaller waistline.

One Piece Cutouts

Many one piece cutout suits offer hidden flattening panels, as well as better support for the rather heavily endowed female. Cutouts down the side of the suit are fine for any size or shaped female. However; there are cutouts that range from going down the entire front and back, to those that are simple peek-a-boos. Peek-a-boos are fine for women of average stature and size, whereas larger women should avoid these completely. This is not to say it would not be a great match with your size, but some women tend to have more than others in areas that are not appealing to themselves. This option is completely up to you. The one piece gives the coverage that modest women look for, but the cutouts allow for a sly and sassy way of showing areas you are comfortable with.

Colors

Depending on the paleness of your skin, colors on your swimsuit will make or break the look. For the paler females, dark colors such as blues, blacks and purples should be avoided. Colors to match your skin tone would include pinks, reds and oranges. For the medium skin toned person, greens, reds and purples would look best. Women with dark skin tones should wear whites, beiges and browns to bring out the lovely undertones of your natural coloring. Paying attention to your skin tone will not only help you to figure out what style suit to buy, but the color and fit of the suit as well.
