With BabyBlogs popping up all over the place, it's easy to see that the generation that made being a geek cool, is now welcoming a new generation of geeks to claim the inheritance that has been prepared for them. Just imagine, maybe the little boy with the glasses who likes math won't get picked on by everyone who isn't asking for help with their homework! Now that's a legacy worth having! And just as these miniature geeks are coming into their own, another new creature has been introduced: The Geek Dad. Now, admittedly, there have been geek dads ever since there have been geeks - even long before the term was applied to them, society has always had its absent-minded professors - and many of them have been somebody's dad. The main difference is that somehow when the planet turned upside down and it became cool to be a geek...the geeks took it one step further, and as they stepped into fatherhood, they made it cool to be a dad.

(As an aside, I'm not meaning to neglect geek moms in these statements).

Joie

Hi! As a Geek (22.28797%) married to a husband with Geek Tendencies, we have managed to produce a precious daughter who is at LEAST a Major Geek, and who gets geekier as time goes on. I remember when she hated computers - now we can't get her to leave them alone! Outstanding site, Iscah! 5 Stars!

Great lense. Thanks for the useful links. I'm pretty much a geek at heart (even though I scored a lousy 32% on the Geek Test - I should have lied more).

Baby Geek Gear - Pick of the Week

Babies are Nasty

I love babies, you love babies, we all love babies - okay, well maybe some of you positively detest the little darlings, but aLmOsT everybody loves babies. However it is an unequivocal fact that babies ARE NASTY! I mean, come on . . . the adorable little things ooze nasty substances out of every orifice of their body with disturbing frequency - and it is only the dutiful sludge and slime wiping of dutiful maternal and paternal units that keep them from being: "Good Gewerstremeiner!!! What IS THAT THING?!?!?"

But thanks to this dutifulness, we (we the majority) can smile benevolently and coo over their sweet-smelling, cute, cuddliness. So behind this deceptively malevolent slogan is a silently loud BRAVO! to all the unsung heros of the parental type! ...........so............... BRAVO!

(because without you, babies are nasty!)

Just how geeky are you?

There's almost nothing geeks like more than new - or even not so new - ways to measure and display their geek prowess. What better way to measure this than a certified, standard geek test?

So, how do you find out how your geekness measures up? Go to THE ORIGINAL GEEK TEST, take the test, and then report back here. ;-D

I've entered this as a poll question, but this could also be a fun way for you and little geek, and maybe spouse geek, to rank your separate and collective geekishness to share with us in the guestbook!

Just for the record, I currently score as: 37.86982% - Major Geek (...and climbing)

About IscahDesigns

Hello, I'm Iscah!

I was always the "egghead" at school, and was a confirmed geek even before I simultaneously aquired braces and glasses. It's taken until recent years to fully embrace and proclaim my geekhood, but now I revel in it!

It may come as a surprise to you looking at this lens that I'm a single gal with no kids. I decided to make this lens as a tribute to two of my fellow geeks, who recently entered the wonderful world of parenthood, and became the greatest GEEK DAD and GEEK MOM ever!

So, Kramer and Brat, this is for you!
