Think Fun's 36 Cube: Brain Teaser or Brain Killer?

Arrgh!! This is one tough brain puzzle!
You might have been one of those people who conquered the Rubik's cube back in the 80s. Maybe you are the queen of Sudoku. Maybe you breezed through Brainangle or Brain Age.
Don't get too eager if you pick up ThinkFun's 36 Cube. This is one tough puzzle.
There are only two rules to this game, but don't be deceived. I'm still trying to figure it out. Sigh.
UPDATE: I figured out the secret a little while ago, but finally got around to solving the puzzle - June 2, 2009. Took less than 15 minutes once I sat down to it and knew the trick. Wicked people over there at ThinkFun!
