What is Islam, How can I know more about Islam?
The word Islam is derived from the root "Salema" which means submission, obedience, peace and purity. Islam essentially means to submit to the Will of God and being obedient to the laws that He has set forth.
Islam is practiced by about 1.5 billion people in the world making about every fifth person a follower of this faith. The practitioners of Islam are called Muslims.
The Book of Islam is called Qur'an which was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the last Prophet sent by God to mankind and that there will be no other prophet after him.
Unlike Christians, Muslims do not elevate their Prophet (peace be upon him) to the status of God. The concept of God in Islam is that of a divine being who exists in absolute singularity. He has no other forms or manifestations. He is absolutely ONE and the ONLY one worthy of worship.
Islam enables direct access to Allah (God) without the intervention of any other human. According to Islam every Muslim should pray directly to Allah and seek everything from Him.

Important Things to Know About Islam
2. Muslims believe in all the Prophets and revere them equally. Allah has ordered Muslims not to differentiate between any of the Prophets in the Qur'an.
3. No Muslim is a Muslim if He does not believe in Jesus Christ (peace be upon him). Muslims believe that Christ (peace be upon him) was a Messiah, and they believe in all his miracles. Muslims believe that Christ (peace be upon him) was born of the virgin Mary (peace be upon her), that he defended his mother by speaking to the people while he was an infant, that he cured those blind, leper and raised dead to life, all by the permission of Allah.
4. Every Muslim has direct access to God, without the intervention of any clergy or for that matter anything else!
5. Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a Prophet and in no way He can be compared to God, Allah the Supreme. Muhammad (peace be upon him) was only a man who was guided by Allah to deliver His message to mankind. He is the last and final Messenger. Muhammad (peace be upon him) died, but Allah is the Ever Living.
6. While praying Muslims face the Ka'aba (The Black Cube) in Makkah. They do not worship Ka'aba, rather it serves to unite the Muslims as they all face one direction.
7. Most of the Muslims are not Arabs. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country by population.
8. Allah, is an Arabic word used not only by Muslims but also by Arab Christians.
Prophets of Islam
Islam considers all the Prophets same in the context considering that they had to deliver the message of God to the people they were sent to.
Muhammad(peace be upon him) is the last and final Prophet sent by Allah(God) to mankind. Unlike the Prophets before him, he has been sent to the whole of mankind.
Muslims believe in all the Prophets mentioned above and many more which were sent by God to guide mankind. No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in even one of the Prophets mentioned in the Qur'an or for that matter any of the Prophets sent by God (only some of them have been mentioned in the Qur'an).
Remember that Muslims respect all of the Prophets sent by God, as their mission was to convey God's message to mankind so that they would not go astray. Muslims never elevate any Prophet to the status of God, rather, they revere them because they were on the most sacred mission on earth, which is to convey the message of God to people.
It is ONLY God who is the true source of divinity, He is the Creator who created everything. He is the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate. He is the Master of the Day of Judgement.
Jesus in Islam
As mentioned earlier, Muslims consider Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) as one of the mightiest messengers sent by God to mankind. Muslims believe in all his miracles and that He was a Messiah. The most important thing to understand is that Jesus (peace be upon him) though a Prophet was only but a man and He can never be compared to God. God is eternal and absolute and there is nothing like Him.
There have been accounts in Bible about Jesus (peace be upon him) praying to God. It is imperative to note that if he was God himself why would be pray to God and bow down in front of Him. Jesus (peace be upon him) will disown those people on the Day of Judgement who have elevated him to the status of God. He performed all of his miracles with the permission of God.
Muslims also believe in the second coming of the Christ (peace be upon him) and that he was NOT crucified, rather, he was lifted by God to be sent later.
