Looking for a political affiliation that isn't Democratic or Republican?
Take a look at, and learn more about some of your Third Party options. Most democratic countries in the world have many political parties, which is more what the designers of the US Constitution had in mind when they created it. It's sort of been an accident that the US political system has come to be dominated by an "either/or" choice, and the only reason that it hasn't changed is because YOU, the voter, doesn't demand more choices. The good thing about this is that it is relatively simple to fix: make a choice that has nothing to do with either the Democratic or Republican parties!

- As long as we run elections under first part the post rules we will never have more than two viable parties at a time. That means that the only thing that voting third party can accomplish is to push one of the two current major parties closer to your beliefs. But hey, good lens!

- I was a member of the Libertarian Party for twelve years, but finally threw in the towel over the failure of the party to continue persuing the same failed strategies over and over again. It is frustrating that our only choice at the ballot box is the Republicrats.

- Ours is a system dominated by money. The parties with power stay that way by maintaining a cozy relationship with moneyed interests. One way to show disapproval is to vote no--voting for candidates with no chance of winning because they don't have enough money for slick negative TV ad campaigns, usually candidates from the third world of political parties. Thanks for putting out a lens outside the usual either or political box!

- Many people I talk to often vote for the lesser of two evils. However the winner claims those votes as votes FOR him or her. Other people don't vote at all because they don't like anyone enough to go to the polls for. Too many people just don't care enough to bother deciding which crook (for so the candidates often seem) to vote against or seeing what other issues are on the ballot
What I propose is as follows:
EVERYONE who CAN vote should go and do so. If none of the candidates in a given race are ones you could vote FOR, then don't vote for anyone for that position. Nothing says you have to vote on every position or issue on the ballot. Even if there's only one issue that you know and care about at all, GO AND VOTE FOR THAT ISSUE ONLY!!! If 1,000 people cast ballots at a given precinct but the winner of any particular race only gets 150 votes that sends a message loud and clear. NOTA (None Of The Above) doesn't have to be formally on the ballot to be the de facto winner.

- My position has always been that voting for a third party is throwing your vote away, especially dangerous when it's so important that we win this one.
Great lens, BTW.
