How to outline my version of Heaven in 10,000 characters or less?

'Heaven' is in quotes in the main title because this word usually evokes a specific picture in peoples' mind. I feel like I'm forced to use that word however for reasons I hope become apparent. In some ways my version may ultimately share some attributes with other ideas about Heaven but the foundations are completely different. I am in no way saying that I know there isn't an after-life, therefore another Heaven. I'm just attempting to describe the current situation that we are all in now, in terms of events and our emotional responses to those events.

I hope the page reads objectively and enables people to allow themselves to at least see the possible truth of the following conclusions, as controversial and/or far-fetched as they may initially seem. Since I do only have 10,000 characters in the main module below, I also hope I'm not compromising coherency for the sake of being concise. Preconceptions and restrictions aside, the aim of the page is to make the following four points:

1. We are in control of how we emotionally respond to events: we subconsciously choose to feel good, bad or indifferent.
2. We choose to feel bad because of a specific process.
3. That process strongly points to the fact that we are in Paradise.
4. Even if it wasn't Paradise universally, we have the power to create Paradise individually.

The general intention of writing this is not to sway the mind of a person with contrasting views and make them believe what I believe (see below section about belief being reality). The intention is to offer another view.

Do you ever get the feeling there should be much more to life than this?

THERE IS

THE BABY THEORY

A baby's normal emotional/physical state is one of equilibrium, which means stability. The baby is not lacking in anything he or she needs: it has enough food, it feels secure and warm. This is perfect for a baby and it feels uncomfortable only when there is an obstruction to this state. It expresses this discomfort so someone is able to solve the problem, e.g. feeds it, alters the temperature or provides security and comfort. We can call this the Bad Function. Babies cannot communicate problems to adults in any other way so rely on this to ensure basic needs are met.

This type of expression usually gets a quick, positive reaction so an association is made, reinforced and ingrained. When babies start to have desires outside of these basic needs and there's an obstruction to desire, this equilibrium-based Bad Function is simulated and is used to try to get those desires met also.

Children continue to run this function because they are not taught details of its origin. They fail to see it for themselves due to limited awareness and the apparent initial success rate. It is these two factors that ensure by the time puberty and adulthood is reached, this function is run so consistently that bad emotions become an unavoidable or even 'necessary' part of life. If my view of the function is an accurate one, with the exception of pain, bad emotions in adults should not exist.

BELIEF IS REALITY I

Reality can be described in two ways: Universal (objective) and Individual (subjective). We are all in Universal reality but are restricted to perceive our own Individual ones. The aim of the Individual reality is to copy or mirror the Universal one but the bottom line is we are in ultimate control. Things mean only what we or other people say they mean. We are experiencing our sensory impressions of Universal reality and impressions can be misguided.

This subjective reality starts at birth: a baby is mirorring their world by the same general process that an adult is mirroring theirs. One of the differences between these two created worlds is an adult has the ability to consciously control some of the aspects. This now more readily accepted view was said by the earliest philosophers but the potential significance of what it means remains down-played.

THE PARADISE THEORY

Most people will find it extremely difficult to see Earth as Paradise because of bad emotions as people are doing things deemed bad - and, people are feeling bad in response to the bad things that are being done.

If the Baby Theory is true, one of the most important jobs our brains have is to right a 'wrongful' world. In a general way it takes place like this: we are creating perfect worlds at all times (equilibrium). When we think the world is imperfect (disequilibrium), the function is activated and we make ourselves feel bad because this used to be a successful way of restoring that perfect world (equilibrium). This method of problem solving is far from ideal for adults but that's hard to see due to the process: people are too affected by their bad emotions to realise they are self-prescribed because of an obsolete function.

The concrete Paradise aspect of the Paradise Theory is the fact that we are on a planet that can self-sufficiently sustain us in a completely blissful state of existence.

FAQ

Q: Emotions like guilt and remorse have a purpose. If bad emotions did not exist, wouldn't the world be plunged into selfish chaos?
A: Well, yes, negative emotions can be used as behaviour modifiers: usually a person does not want to feel bad so bad emotions are deterrents for some things sometimes. But, no, they are clearly not the best deterrents or a lot of crimes would not be committed as these are being committed by people who feel bad.

Q: Aren't bad emotions just a part of being human?
A: Yes they are. They're a part of being human but like other human attributes, they have a specific purpose. A specific purpose that could serve as indicator of our 'true' nature. If we realised this, we would a) stop torturing ourselves when we think things are not going our way, b) stop being so negatively affected by our 'bad' emotions and acting on them in the way we do.

Q: Don't you need bad sensations to know or appreciate the good ones?
A1: No. You would need two things if you wanted to make a comparison between them but you would not need one to know the other. With that reasoning, you would need to know 'rock' to know 'table'.
A2: No. You wouldn't necessarily need one to appreciate the other. Someone could appreciate the taste of vanilla ice-cream after living on bread and tree bark for a week. Someone else could just appreciate the taste of vanilla ice-cream.

Q: If this is Heaven/Paradise, why are so many people doing so many bad things?
A: Mainly because they do not know it is Heaven/Paradise. If they did, they could also know it was a conditional one. Such as, you have to believe it's Heaven/Paradise and you have to be nice to one another. The latter isn't even a condition because I think that once people see the Bad Function for what it is, most would voluntarily choose to not do bad things to another person because their desire priorities would change.

Q: Why haven't more people seen this?
A: Most people are biased to their current perceptions due to the association they made as babies. They have a view of bad emotions that make sense or fits in with their world view, i.e. it's natural to think that good and bad does exists and it's appropriate to feel good or bad when you encounter them.

THE BABY FACT

Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the brain responsible for, amongst other things, movement, sensation and emotions. A baby has subconscious control of their neurotransmitters in a similar way to an adult. When we feel good or bad, the feeling is coming from within. When we feel bad, we want something in the external world changed and the first thing we do is revert to our original method of making this happen. This means we utilise one of a number of neurotransmitters that cause an uncomfortable sensation, with the original intention of expressing this discomfort so that someone with more power to change events 'fixes' the thing we're feeling bad over. This applies to ALL bad emotions: embarrassment, anxiety, disappointment, sorrow etc.

There is absolutely no reason for an adult to continue to self-prescribe 'negative' chemicals except for pain. Pain is the only negative sensation that has a purpose in an adult as it warns us when our bodies are in immediate danger and our existence is being threatened. Fear has a similar purpose because of its link to pain.

I initially tried to prove this theory wrong when I first discovered it in 1992 because it seemed impractical or too radical an approach to so-called negative emotions but I have resigned myself to its apparent objectivity. I'm unable to cite scientific research to substantiate these views, all I have to go on is years of experience, reasoning and debate.

BELIEF IS REALITY II: We are running the show!

Some people have taken advantage of this along with the fact that we can apparently make anything real so fake realities have been. They were conceived, made concrete, and passed down to future generations. In a lot of ways, these fake realities could be a massive factor for us failing to realise a better model of the Universal reality we are supposed to be mirroring.

Since I realised belief was reality, I investigated the criteria for belief. The bare minimum a brain needs is words: where words exist, a concrete Individual reality can be created. It is because of this some people believed the world was flat in the past. In the present, some people believe the world is just over 12,000 years old so the world is concretely only 12,000 years old to them.

PARADISE

How good do you think you would be feeling if you were in your version of Heaven right now? We have the internal resources to feel that way but bad emotions are an apparent obstacle. Changing our view of that function could give us the reason to feel that way. In other words, people probably will not see Paradise/Heaven for what it is because of their bad emotions but if bad emotions were seen for what they are (the original purpose and then the later associations we made), they would demonstrate that this is Paradise/Heaven.

ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY?

I don't do the lottery because the 1 in exactly 13,983,816 odds of winning aren't favourable. The odds of us being born are incalculably low because there are too many factors. Even if your parents were destined to meet and have intercourse at the exact same moment they did when you were conceived, the odds are still 1 in approx. 150,000,000 that 'your' sperm was the one that reached 'your' egg.

If there was anything different in either parent's history before meeting, there is a chance they would not have met. If there was anything different in either parent's history after they met, there is a chance they would not have had intercourse at the exact moment they did, which means you probably would not have been the 1 in 150 million sperm that made it to the egg if any. If any, another sperm would've reached the egg and possibly that person would be alive (to read this or not) not you. Now those odds are incalculable enough, the same odds apply to everybody on both sides of your family, i.e. your mum's and your dad's ancestors. This streak of inconceivably good 'luck' goes right back to the beginning of time but most people will not see it because this aspect of Universal reality has not been mirrored or taught.

CONCLUSIONS

We as individuals exist despite 'impossible' odds.

We have overall control over how we feel. Not only should 'bad' emotions not exist, a more objective view of them strongly indicates this is Paradise.

Belief is reality so we're ultimately in a Paradise of our own design.

Wow, I'm blown away that something so indepth can be explained so simply. I have been pointing this way of thinking for a year or two now and it seems that since I have, people have come into my life and/or I meet, that either have the same views, practice the same views or somehow teach these views - Love it :o)

Very interesting thoughts. My question: If someone you love dies, how do you free yourself from the bad emotion of missing them and the loneliness of not having them in your life any longer? You didn't make them die by believing they would, did you, or not? But, the fact that they are gone from you IS a reality.

Really interesting, life is what you make it....or what you perceive it to be. Some of your ideas are quite buddhist. Very enjoyable read!

There is SO much I agree with in this article. I've always complained about movies with 'perceived' realities because a 'perceived' reality IS reality - belief is reality - and the brain is an amazing thing. I also think you're right about bad emotions. I don't believe in guilt - it's a waste of time and emotion. And, my best friend and I talk all of the time about the AMAZING chance of each one of us being born. You are a great writer - keep it up.
