Thomas the Tank Engine Birthday

We purchased the Thomas the Tank Engine partyware including dessert plates, cups, napkins, tablecloth, centerpiece, balloons, and snack bowls. We decided to use large sized red plates for dinner since I was serving a full dinner and the 9" Thomas plates would not have been big enough. Especially for the adults. We used the Thomas cups for the kids and larger yellow cups for the adults.

We also purchased jumbo mylar Thomas, James and Percy balloons and Thomas themed latex balloons. The partyware was really bright and colorful and my son loved it. He still plays with the Thomas centerpiece and accessories. He uses it when he plays with his Thomas train set.

We made Thomas cupcakes for my son's birthday party. The cupcakes were baked in Thomas cupcake liners. These were very hard to find. I ended up buying them on eBay from a seller in Australia! I don't see them being offered anymore. If I do come across them again, I will list them on this page. In the meantime, I have found primary colored baking liners which I think would be perfect for your Thomas birthday cupcakes.

Once the cupcakes were cooled, I decorated them with icing tinted blue, red, yellow and green. Once iced, I topped the cupcakes with Thomas cupcake rings. I then placed the finished cupcakes on a rectangular cake board which I had covered with Thomas the Tank Engine wrapping paper. I was fortunate to find the Thomas wrapping paper at my local party store.

All of the kids loved the cupcake rings. They made great little toys to take home after the party.

We made two different party favors. One for my son's birthday party at home and another one to hand out to his friends at his preschool party.

For his preschool party favors, each bag included a lollipop and (3) Hershey minatures with personalized wrappers,a custom Thomas crayon packs and Thomas stickers. We put all of the favors in red cello treat bags and tied with red, blue, green and yellow curling ribbon to coordinate with the birthday party color theme.

Since the home party with family included adults as well as children, we handed out Hershey chocolate bars with personalized Thomas wrappers for all of the guests.

We set up my son's Thomas Action Canyon Train Set in the living room along with all of his trains. This was the main activity at the birthday party.

We also played the 'Pin the #1 on Thomas Game'. This game was very large. Much larger than other games of this type I have purchased in the past. It was a lot of fun to play. Many of the adults joined in the game, too! On a side note, the funky birthday hat my son, Kyle, is wearing in the photo above is our custom family birthday hat. Everyone has to wear it on their birthday. It is a family tradition. :)
