What is Headache?

A headache is pain or discomfort in the head or face area. Headaches can be single or recurrent in nature, and localized to one or more areas of the head and face. The most common type of vascular headache is migraine. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head, an upset stomach, and, at times, disturbed vision. Immediate attention from a physician is required if the headache is particularly severe, such as the worst headache of your life, so much pain that you feel physically incapacitated, or stiff neck and/or fever. Also seek help if the headache is associated with any change in your neurological function, such as any paralysis, numbness, slurred speech, or loss of sight.
