Count Your Blessings

"A good memory is one that can remember the day's blessings and forget the day's troubles." Unknown

When was the last time you counted your blessings...naming them one by one?

Some Great Advice

When something distressing befalls you, make an effort to not concentrate on it. Rather, take brief period of time to consider and focus on your blessings. We all have good things happening in our lives, whether it's around our health, our family, or whatever. Sometimes you may have to look hard, but rest assured they're always there.

Reason #1

That's great advice...for at least two reasons. First, when something unfavorable occurs to you, if you allow your thinking to dwell on that situation and what could happen next, you are clearly nourishing an increasing collection of negative thoughts. Before long you're worrying and preparing invitations for a full-blown pity party.

Have you ever observed that destructive thinking seems to multiply faster than rabbits? A mind flooded by negative thoughts will invariably make you feel bad, feel down, and feel sorry for yourself. It's becomes an unfavorable spiral that not only impacts your brain and fogs your reasoning, but similarly soon wallops your emotions.

Reason #2

Another reason that you'd be better served to start remembering your blessings, is that it permits you to begin to weigh the "something bad" against the light of numerous "something goods." The more "something goods" you are able to pile up against the "something bad" starts to cause the original issue to virtually melt into the backdrop, or leastways be viewed in a more honest perspective.

And unless you're a genuine Joe Btfsplk you're going to have an overpowering number of "something goods" to dwarf the presenting issue. (Who's Joe Btfsplk? He's a cartoon character created by Al Capp who had the reputation for being the world's biggest jinx.)

Don't be an Osterich

Now, none of this is to propose that you bury your head in the sand (a dear friend says cover your head with a pillow) about the "something bad" that took place. You surely ought learn from the experience and most likely can make a list of a few corrections to minimize the possiblty of it occurring in the future.

So do what you need to do and then get your thinking off of the original issue. (Perhaps you would do well to get your mind off of it for a bit before it becomes clear what to do.) But just like most things in life...it's a choice. Choose to brood about the negative or focus on the positive.

This is true is all areas of life, but especially true if your are an entrepreneur with your own business, for example a network marketing business. Things will happen--mistakes will be made. Instead of brooding over them, focus on what you learned and on your desired outcome.

May I encourage you to choose wisely?
