Three Wheeled Bicycles -- Not Just for Kids Anymore

Have you noticed it?  Bicycle riding is becoming more and more popular -- among people of all ages and backgrounds.  But, let's face it: most of us aren't as young as we used to be.

And some of us have serious medical conditions that we battle with: arthritis, heart conditions, joint pain, weak backs, overweight.  What can we do?  How can we enjoy the use of the Bicycle?  The answer is -- through the use of a three-wheeled bicycle.

When most people think of a three wheeled bicycle, they think of a child's tricycle.  And it is true, tricycles are a type of three wheeled bicycle.  But imagine, if you will, a tricycle for children on steroids -- with large, sturdy tires, an adult-sized bike frame, with plenty of storage capacity -- doesn't that sound wonderful?  And the great news is that these larger size bicycles are much easier to operate for those of us who are older or who have serious medical conditions.

Another advantage of the three wheeled bicycle is that, because of its design, it is actually much more stable and easier to handle on the road or sidewalk, as compared to "grown up" two-wheeled bicycles.  It is much more difficult to tip these types of bicycles over, for example.  And if you have serious back trouble, you can even purchase a three wheeled bicycle that allows you to pedal it from a recumbent position, using your leg muscles rather than your back.

There are several reliable manufacturers of these types of bicycles -- and one  of them is Triton.  They manufacture a model which is called the Triton Pro Ultimate, Three-Wheeled Cruiser.  This three wheeled Bicycle features an adjustable frame and a seat which provides full support for your back.  And don't worry if you are not a "lightweight" -- because this bicycle is capable of supporting a rider weighing up to 250 pounds.

Another recognized name in the field of bicycle manufacture is Schwinn.  They manufacture a three wheeled bike for adults for just under $300, which features a lightweight aluminum frame and a folding rear basket.  It is also equipped with a series of front and rear brakes that will allow you to operate your bike safely.

A final manufacturer of three wheeled bicycles is Huffy.  That's right -- this one is for the kids -- the Huffy Green Machine 2. This is a three wheeled bicycle that you can give to your kids, so they can go bike riding with you.  The color scheme on this bicycle is something else -- it looks like it was painted by the Incredible Hulk!  Even your older kids won't mind riding a "tricycle" if they can take turns riding this one.  And this child's bicycle also comes with an adjustable seat, so they won't outgrow it too soon.  It also has a high-tension steel frame and molded rear wheels.

I think you'll agree with me -- the era of the three wheeled bicycle is finally with us, in force.  After all. . .they aren't just for kids after all.
