My top three books...
In H.G. Wells's classic book "The Time Machine", at the end of the story, the professor picked 3 books from his personal library and went into the future to start a new civilization. The big question was which 3 books did he choose. This has peaked my curiosity and my thinking of "what if?"
What if I was given that choice, what three books of all times would I choose. It is a philosophical question and one that really does not have any practical use. Never the less, it forces one to think.
After you have read my choices and the reason, I hope you will append your choices if different in my guestbook.

MY TOP THREE BOOKS OF ALL TIMES
- The Bible
- (1) The New American Bible
- The US Constitution
- (2) Constitution of the United States
- Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations
- (3) The Wealth of Nations
My reasons...
- Here are my reasons for selecting these three books. I wanted to pick a book with spiritual guidance and moral behavior, a book with political philosophy that champions freedom and human rights, and finally a book that provides the economic framework that has led to the most successful country state in the whole history of mankind - the USA.

I like the idea of this lens. I have no idea which three I would choose, but now that you've brought it up, I think I will ponder on this and create my own "top 3 books" lens, once I figure out what my answer would be. Posted August 19, 2007 |

For a Catholic Bible, either the NRSV or the Douay Rheims are far better translations, but they aren't used in liturgy, at least for now. The Douay Rheims has the beauty in the language that the KJV does, with more accuracy, and the NRSV is the most accurate in a scholarly sense. Great Lens! Posted December 15, 2006 |

I debated about the version of the Bible but I am a Catholic and decided to go with the Catholic version. The King James would be a good alternate. Posted December 06, 2006 |
