A New Sound
Their Story
Thriving Ivory's story begins at Santa Barbara College in California, where singer Clayton Stroope met pianist and songwriter Scott Jason. Clayton Stroope says about the partnership, "I'm not a songwriter, and Scott doesn't sing. But Scott has this creative force inside him, and I just fit as an outlet for him." Guitarist Drew Cribley, bassist Bret Cohune, and drummer Paul Niedermier quickly joined the duo, completing Thriving Ivory. The band played gigs in Santa Barabara, but as soon as their fan base got big enough, relocated to San Francisco. Although they hadn't signed with a label, their music was being played on the radio and their MySpace page had over 500,000 hits. Thriving Ivory signed with Wind-Up Records in 2007, when they re-recorded their self-titled debut album, which was released in June 2008.

What is your favorite song off of Thriving Ivory's debut album?
Angels on the Moon
The hit song
So tell me your name
Do you care, about all the little things or anything at all?
I wanna feel, all the chemicals inside I wanna feel
I wanna sunburn, just to know that I'm alive
To know I'm alive
Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon
Do you believe, in the day that you were born
Tell me do you believe?
Do you know, that everyday's the first of the rest of your life
Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon
This is to one last day in the shadows
And to know a brother's love
This is to New York City angels
And the rivers of our blood
This is to all of us, to all of us
Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon
You can tell me all your thoughts, about the stars that fill polluted skies
And show me where you run to, when no one's left to take your side
But don't tell me where the road ends, cause I just don't wanna know, No I don't wanna know
Don't tell me if I'm dying
Don't tell me if I'm dying
Don't tell me if I'm dying
"Angels on the Moon" Music Video
Our December Lyrics
You were walking, I was standing still
I could feel the cold on my face
And we were talking like always
And I could touch snow covered leaves
And you were walking closer to me
And I would play you a song out loud
Yeah, we could sing it til the year runs out.
I remember streets covered white
And I remember a long tonight
Said our December will be littered with lights
And I see her walking to me
Oh we were holding our future in hand
And place to fly and a place to land
Now our December will be sure to last
I said there'll be no rush for the year to pass
I remember streets covered white
And I remember a long tonight
Said our December will be littered with lights
And I see her walking to me
I could see snow covered hills
And all at once my heart is still
And I see her walking to me
I remember streets covered white
And I remember a long tonight
Said our December will be littered with lights
And I see her walking to me
I remember streets covered white
And I remember a long tonight
Said our December will be littered with lights
And I see her walking to me
And I see her walking to me
