Who Is Thrivingmom And What Has She Been Up To?

Anytime you try to answer the question of "who am I" it starts off very simple and then gets super complicated.

Who is Thrivingmom?

I'm a wife. My husband and I married in 1998. We did a lot of traveling, dating, and goofing off during the first 8 years of our marriage before finally having kids, and I'm so glad that we did.

I'm a teacher. I'm the first person in my entire family to graduate from college, and I'm very proud of that accomplishment. I completed school on a combination of pail grants, student loans, and a lot of hard work. I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Two years later I earned a Texas State Teacher Certification in Secondary English.

I'm a stay at home mom. I have a toddler girl and an infant boy that keep me super busy. They are only 20 months apart, which can be a super challenge. As if that isn't enough of a handful, baby number three is due in December!

Before I was a mom, I worked for Children's Protective Services. That was by far the most difficult job I've ever had. It's heart breaking and stressful. After CPS, I taught Sophomore English. I have a strong interest in the well being of today's youth. I believe that it takes a village to raise a child and that if one child falls through the cracks of our society, then we have failed at our job as citizens.

On a lighter note, I'm also an e-preneur. I've learned a lot about making money online and love to share what I've learned. It's great to be a full time mom and still earn monthly paychecks from my online ventures!

Well, that's a very brief overview of who Thrivingmom is. You will probably get to know me better by reading my lenses. They are little glimpses into what interests me and what I've learned through the years.

Why "Thrivingmom"

How'd I Choose that Name Anyway?

When I first became a mom, I was at home all day long alone with this precious little baby. Now, a seasoned mother of two, it is almost comical to think about how scared I was when I was a new mom. I read a lot of books and did a lot of research on the internet about everything I could that had to do with babies. I was so concerned that I would do something wrong and mess her up for life!

As I read book after book and discovered mommy blogs and message boards, I kept seeing the phrase "surviving motherhood." I thought that was a terrible way to look at the blessing of being a mom...as something to survive. I started to settle into my roll as mother and got into a daily rhythm. That's when I thought to myself that I'm not a surviving mom, I'm a thriving mom!

I use that name on all of the forums, social networks, and other various sites I belong to. So, if you see me on another site some where, be sure to say hello.

Looking for Self Help Ideas, Inspirational Images, and Motivational Quotes

Since watching "The Secret" DVD and reading the book, I've really started working harder on thinking positive. It's amazing how I see the world differently now. It's like the sun shines a bit brighter and my kids' smiles are a bit bigger.

My Source of Inspiration

I Found Great Help With "The Secret"

I believe in the law of attraction. We've all been around people who have so much positive energy that they make us feel great, or people who have so much negative energy that we try at all costs to avoid them. That is just a tiny example of how positive and negative energy can affect our lives.

I first heard about "The Secret" on Oprah. I was skeptical, but still ordered the movie and to my surprise it made me feel great, filled me with hope, and helped me focus my life in a new and positive direction.

Soon after watching the movie a second time, I got the book, workbook, and gratitude journal. I absolutely love these products.

We've always known that the average person only uses 10% of their brain's full potential. I believe that the law of attraction simply teaches us how to utilize more of our brain power.
