NBA's Thurl Bailey

Thurl Lee Bailey, born April 7, 1961 in Washington, D.C., is a retired NBA basketball player. His career spanned from 1983 to 1999 with the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves. Nicknamed "Big T", he went to college at North Carolina State University and was a huge impact player in the Wolfpack's miracle run to the 1983 NCAA Championship.

In 1983 Thurl was drafted by the Utah Jazz as the 7th pick. It was reported that he was chosen for the quality of his character as well as the quality of his game. This was the start of 16 years of his professional basketball career, 12 of which were with the NBA.

He was eventually traded on November 25th, 1991 by the Jazz to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Tyrone Corbin. He nearly played three seasons there until 1994, when he left the NBA and joined the Greek league playing for Panionios BC for the 1993-94 season. He then played in the Italian league from 1995 to 1998 before returning to the Jazz as a free agent on January 21, 1999. Thurl then ended his professional basketball career by retiring at the end of the 1998-99 season.
