Buddhism, the people of Tibet and the scenery
When thinking of Tibet, most people automatically think about China, the Dalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhism. However, like other countries, Tibet is more than just those political and religious factors. There are ordinary people there, not all of whom are religious. There is a very harsh environment: cold and brutal. The scenery is breath taking and the people unique.
The calendars on this page reflect the diversity of the Tibetan People and their country. Some are devoted to the landscape, some to Buddhist art (thankas), some to the people of Tibet, whether in exile or in the province of China of that name.
Most of these calendars devote a portion of the profits to the Tibetan people in exile.

Celebrating the preservation of Tibetan Culture in Exile for 50 years
Tibetan Life 2010 Wall Calendar 13.99Home to Mt. Everest and occupying the plateau and mountainous region of Central Asia, Tibet is often called the "rooftop of the world." This calendar celebrates the preservation of the culture of it's people in exile in northern India.
The ancient arts from this autonomous region of China are rooted in its religious history. This wall calendar will show you more about this beautiful region than monks and the Dalai Lama. It shows shamans dancing, painters painting, kids playing and yes, monks praying and walking about. There is a beautiful shot of the Dalai Lama teaching a crowd as well.
Each image comes with a caption explaining the circumstances of the photograph.

The Dalai Lama speaks out for peace in Tibet
(...)
I am deeply saddened by the loss of life in the recent tragic events in Tibet. I am aware that some Chinese have also died. I feel for the victims and their families and pray for them. The recent unrest has clearly demonstrated the gravity of the situation in Tibet and the urgent need to seek a peaceful and mutually beneficial solution through dialogue. Even at this juncture I have expressed my willingness to the Chinese authorities to work together to bring about peace and stability.
