The consumer should take into account not only the appearance of the tie, but have a general color scheme in mind in order to properly match the tie with his outfit. Also, size and width of the tie must be proportional to the height and width of the individual. Patterns and materials should be chosen carefully depending on the occasion. For example, You wouldn't wear a tie with pictures of baloons to a job interview or a wedding for that matter. Also, frequency of wearing a tie is important as some men are required to wear them to work everyday and may not desire a noticeable pattern (therefore hiding their frequent tie rotation),while others wear them once in a while for a special occasion and would want something more eye-catching.

It's a problem too many men are familiar with: They buy what they think is the perfect tie for that new suit or shirt only to have their wife or girlfriend say, "It doesn't match." For some reason, a lot of men seem to not have the knack for color-coordinating their ties with their other clothing.

Here's a suggestion: Let the modern age of modern technology help you out. Today it's as simple as using the camera on your cell phone to take pictures of the clothing for which you want a matching tie. Go to a fine men's clothing retailer and then ask soeone who seems knowledgeable for help buying some matching ties. Then it's just a matter of showing them the photos on your phone and you'll be on your way to purchasing matching ties!
