Breakfast at Tiffany's Party Planning Tips and Ideas

When I started out with planning my tiffany blue wedding, my primary focus was the little blue box with ribbon around it -- coordinating my entire wedding around that particular theme. But, as I did more and more research, I found that there are many other ways to present the decorations rather than just the tiffany blue box look with the ribbon around it. It seems that this tiffany blue theme has been popular for several years now -- there are features in magazines dating back 2-4 years that focus on the tiffany blue color, also referred to as robin's egg blue, egg shell blue, aquamarine, light turquoise, and so on. So, now there are many many wedding supply companies that carry bridal accessories and party supplies in some kind of aquamarine color. You have to hunt around a bit for them, but they are out there. But even with the variety of tiffany or aquamarine products out there, it was still hard to match all the shades that various companies offer. So, my approach was that as long as it was **complimentary** in shade/color to tiffany blue, that I would consider using it as part of my wedding decorations.

The cool thing is that since watery blue colors are so popular these days, you can find complimentary colored items just about anywhere -- from clothing stores, to ribbons, to photo albums, invitations, cakes, etc.

Toni Braxton's wedding a few years back incorporated the Tiffany Blue theme beautifully. I wanted to copy what she did for her centerpiece boxes. I searched and searched and searched for large, square tiffany blue boxes and could not find them! {{{{sigh}}}} Just when I was about to give up, I luckily found some aqua blue gift wrapping paper online. I ended up purchasing some large, white gift boxes (the kind with the separate lid and a bottom part) and wrapped them with the aqua blue gift wrapping paper. I then wrapped the boxes with some thick 1.5" wide white satin ribbon to give it that signature look. Oh! How nice they came out! And the gift wrapping paper came in handy for other oddly shaped gifts that I had to wrap for some of our bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts. What a great find!

I found a great wedding cake designer to make our wedding cake. The problem was finding a good match for the tiffany blue color. We provided a color swatch to our cake designer so that she could try to find a good match for the color. Our designer created several different shades of blue for us to review and approve, and although she provided many different samples, NONE of them were close enough! So, we ended up going with a very elegant white cake with elegant swirls and silver dots all over it -- accented with aqua blue fondant ribbons. It turned out so beautiful! And since the aquamarine fondant was accenting the cake, rather than being the main color for the cake, the accents were small enough so the fact that even though the custom robins egg blue color was not quite tiffany blue, it still looked gorgeous and very complimentary!

When I go shopping, I see this wonderful color in every kind of apparel, from bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, hats, shoes, purses, men's ties, men's vests, scarfs, and even in jewelry such as bracelets and necklaces.

I get asked alot about the color of tiffany blue -- exactly what color IS it?

That's a really good question because no one really knows the pantone # for it -- there are places on the internet where they say its something like pantone 1837 but it really isn't -- that number doesn't exist in the pantone numbering system. There may not be a pantone number close enough to be tiffany blue.

So, I've put together some blue color swatches of some different blues so you can see where approximately tiffany blue is in the range of blues. Mind you, there are many many blues that most people would consider to be tiffany blue in the large spectrum of blues!

Here are some swatches so you can see how tiffany blue compares to other kinds of blues!

As you can see, tiffany blue definitely has more green or yellow in it than a light blue or a turquoise type of blue.

Vendors across the internet may very well have tiffany blue items but it may not be called tiffany blue.

So, look for colors like: aqua, aquamarine, aqua blue, robin's egg blue, eggshell blue, something blue, teal, pastel turquoise, to name a few.

And, of course, always request swatches of any of these items before you buy to make sure its the right color for you.

When I was planning my wedding, I found these small details to be the hardest part of planning my Tiffany Blue Wedding. Finding things like tiffany blue napkins, tiffany blue linens, tiffany blue table number cards, tiffany blue confetti, tiffany blue placecards, etc., was challenging. I've put together a few ideas to help get you started with your table decoration planning.

It was really difficult to find aqua blue tissue paper! I searched all over the internet and when I did find some, it was sold in such large amounts -- like hundreds of sheets!
