Who is Talented Tiffany "Hot Chips" Michelle?

Tiffany Michelle is a talented performer who got her start in theatre at ten-years-old. Today she performs on a variety of projects and productions. In addition to modeling and acting in Film & TV she travels the world playing poker professionally as well as being a gifted musician; singing, songwriting, piano and guitar.

When Tiffany Michelle isn't working on a film or TV project or playing a music gig in Hollywood you'll probably catch her at a poker table. Whether playing a pro tournament in Vegas, lending her voice and talent on poker radio or TV, playing for charity at a Celebrity Invitational or playing for fun in a cash game at Hustler, Tiffany is no stranger to the felt. No-Limit, Stud, Omaha, H.O.R.S.E. or tournaments she knows how to hold her own at a table full of guys, having grown up playing with her brothers and grandfather!

Tiffany broke onto the poker scene in 2005 after honing her skills playing Hollywood house games with fellow actors for several years. She then caught the tournament bug after winning the very first Vegas tournament she entered and continued finding success in smaller tournaments. With her poker knowledge and success, performing background and personality she was asked to join Bluff Radio's 2006 national broadcast team for the WSOP coverage on Sirius Satellite Radio. In 2007 she traveled internationally as the On-Camera Hostess for Pokernews.com and in 2008 returned to the WSOP for a second year hosting the player interviews and coverage for the Official Media Update team.

Recently she appeared on GSN's 4th season of The World Series of Blackjack as well as filmed an undisclosed VH1 project alongside Hollywood Dave. At the 2008 WSOP Tiffany finally made her biggest splash placing 17th out of 6,844 players (for $334,534) in the Main Event - becoming the first woman to beat that large of field in any live tournament in history. Things are just heating up for 'Hot Chips'.

Talanted Tiffany Michelle

One could say that Tiffany Michelle was born to perform, having been born and raised in Los Angeles. She began doing shows in her dining room as a child, casting herself in every role: singer, dancer, and actress. A veteran of the stage she began performing and touring with shows all over the country from the time she was ten and won the Lancaster Performing Arts Center "Best Young Performer" award two years in a row. Tiffany held the titles of Miss Teen Newhall, Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley and was a finalist in the Miss Teenage California pageant, winning the Miss Teenage California Miss Congeniality Award. As a speech & debate competitor in high school and college she earned numerous trophies (on a state and national level) for her Dramatic Interpretation, Duo and Prose Interpretation performances. By the time she was 18 she was regularly performing and completed the two-year theatre program at College of the Canyons. From there she went on to study at UCLA's Film & Television Department.

When she made the transition from acting on stage to the film and TV screen she booked guest-starring roles on shows like ER and Reasonable Doubt in addition to landing the starring role in the award winning independent film, Carrie's Choice opposite One Life To Live's David Fumero. Most recently Tiffany appeared on GSN's 4th Season of the World Series of Blackjack, the Will Ferrell comedy, Semi-Pro, an episode of Nip-Tuck.

Tiffany Michelle's resume is diverse if nothing else. She has done Poker News interviews, co-written a book (Scriptures at Your Fingertips for Teens), sings and writes songs and appeared in several television and film roles. A native southern Californian, Tiffany's eclectic interests could be the result of having been homeschooled her entire childhood, but whatever the case, the girl can play poker.

Tiffany Michelle began her poker career in 2005 when she participated in several charity poker tournaments. In 2006, she joined Bluff Radio's WSOP coverage on Sirius Satellite Radio and soon became one of the on-camera hosts for Pokernews.com. Tiffany's beautiful face in the poker room was difficult to miss and players took notice immediately. However, they started to take even more notice in 2008 when she was the last woman standing at the World Series of Poker No Limit Texas Holdem main event.

A teen beauty queen, Tiffany held the titles of Miss Teen Newhall and Miss Teen Santa Clarita Valley. She was also a finalist in the Miss Teenage California pageant.

Tiffany Michelle's poker credits before the main event of the 20068 WSOP included some first place finishes in smaller tournaments in Las Vegas such as the Harrah's Daily Tourney and a WSOP Circuit Event Second Chance tournament at Caesars Palace. It has been rumored that Jeff Madsen helped her with her game prior to her playing in the 2008 main event. Whether that made a difference or not, she managed to place 17th, outlasting more than 6850 other competitors.

Unlike most of the younger generation of players for whom No Limit Holdem is "poker", Tiffany also enjoys Stud, Omaha and Chinese poker. She also appeared on GSN's World Series of Blackjack.

The Latest Blogs on Tiffany Michelle

There won't be a female at the final table this year, as Tiffany Michelle has just been eliminated from the 2008 World Series of Poker main event in 17th place.

Michelle made an extremely impressive and deep run in this year's main event, and ends up collecting $334,534 for her 17th place finish. Michelle played extremely well over the past couple of weeks, and certainly wouldn't have looked out of place at the final table.

This is the second cash of her career. According to Cardplayer.com, she also had a cash in 2006 for $1,285.

Michelle just couldn't get anything going on Monday. Her impressive chip stack dwindled throughout the day, and she eventually made her final stand after flopping top pair on a flop of A-10-9. Unfortunately for Michelle, she picked the wrong time to push all-in as her A-J was completely dominated by the pocket Aces of Peter Eastgate. Michelle was drawing extremely thin, and would need a runner-runner straight in order to win the hand. The turn was the five of hearts, and Michelle was sent to the rail.

There are many people that wanted to see Tiffany Michelle make it to the final table. ESPN would have been overjoyed at having her take part, as she would have almost certainly been the focal point of their marketing strategy between now and November. There were already a number of mainstream pieces on Tiffany Michelle over the weekend - if she had made the final table, it would have been extremely good for the game of poker, as it would have certainly brought the game a great deal of time in the media spotlight.

It will be interesting to see where Michelle goes from here. Will she spend time on the tournament trail? Will she still work with Pokernews.com?

Congratulations to Tiffany on her $330k+ cash, and good luck to everyone else that is still alive in the tournament.

About WSOP 2008

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I truly am sorry if watching me on TV rubbed anyone the wrong way. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to weed through the editing and TV screen and see the real time and real scenarios in which my words and actions occurred. Furthermore, if you don't personally know me and you may not understand my joking and sarcastic personality at the tables where I'm just having some fun and harmless banter with the boys. Before you judge remember that you saw 7 EDITED TV hours of a tournament that I played for an entire week and close to 100 hours of time. I don't think there is a single person who I played with live who would walk away and say anything negative about how I personally treated them at the tables or that I didn't show respect to my fellow table mates.

As you might expect, the responses to her defense range from supportive to apathetic to harshly critical, but the one response that really matters is that of her table mate (and WSOP ME final tabler) Craig Marquis, who doesn't seem to share Michelle's interpretation of the way things were:

Yeah. This is all well and good after the fact, but you were extremely disrespectful and unbelievably rude while we were playing in just about every situation you could be. I feel like those 7 edited episodes accurately depicted your behavior during the tournament, and you can say it was "your table face" or whatever, but your calling the clock during the Paul Snead and Scott Montgomery hand in what is probably the most stressful situation the man has ever been just boggles my mind. Also this is coming from somebody who is judging you entirely on his personal experience with you, not from the any media-skewed perspective.

You can judge for yourself by watching the last episode or two of the WSOP on ESPN, which is in heavy rerun rotation, or by checking out the episodes over at PokerTube.com. Our general sense was that she came off as arrogant, a posture she no doubt adopted to battle what has to be an incredibly nerve-wracking experience.

How does one define someone with so many talents and credits to her name? Tiffany "Hot Chips" Michelle is a singer, dancer, actress and professional poker player. At the time of publishing, Tiffany is the only woman left in the original field of 6844 players who flocked to the Rio for the World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event, sitting comfortably with a 9.9 million chip stack (third largest) and guaranteed at least $250,000 in prize money. What's her story so far?

Tiffany is a veteran in the performing arts scene beginning her career at the tender age of ten when she toured and performed at several premier venues across the country. She is also a celebrated actress with notable roles in ER, Nip/Tuck, and most recently, the hugely successful Will Ferrell comedy, Semi Pro. First I'd like to start by giving a shout out to Tiffany Michelle, and trust me I am praying and hoping that you become the first woman to take home that all too coveted bracelet from the Wsop main event this year. As I was reading the post on her today, I thought about another post ( I believe that was written by Daniel Negranue) about why you don't see more women playing at the Wsop. Well I decided today to write my own blog in response to that, that will hopefully encourage more women to participate, in this fantastic sport and game.

As a young black girl growing up in Indianapolis, I can remember sitting in my fathers lap during his weekend games of Dad or Spades or Tonk, whatever the card game they were playing, it was always a bunch of men and a lot of drinking and smoking going on, and I'm quite sure that this went on in a lot of households where young women were growing up, where no matter what the card game was that was being played, you generally saw little or no women but
