Factory R of the United States Glass Company

The Tiffin Glass Company was founded in Tiffin, Ohio, as A. J. Beatty & Sons. In the last Nineteenth Century, a number of glass houses combined into the United States Glass Company in order to try and fight cheaper glass imports. The Tiffin, Ohio, glass plant became Factory R of the US Glass Co. Due to labor problems, many of the other glass factories closed in the first decade of the US Glass Company's existence, but Factory R survived, in part due to the fine glassware that it produced throughout its lifetime. Even today, Tiffin is known for the many fine etched and shallow cut glass patterns it produced, as well as the cranberry and ruby glassware it made
