Tilda Swinton began her acting career with British filmmaker Derek Jarman.  You may recognize her as the gender-fluid title character in ORLANDO, the angel Gabriel from CONSTANTINE, or the White Witch in THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE.

She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Michael Clayton in February 2008.

Three of My Favorite Tilda Swinton Films

You don't have to look any further than the movies CARAVAGGIO, ORLANDO and TEKNOLUST to fall in love with Tilda Swinton's acting.

Her big debut film was CARAVAGGIO, starring opposite Nigel Terry as the titular artist, and fellow newcomer Sean Bean. She and Bean played lovers and rivals in a romantic triangle with the painter.

In ORLANDO, Swinton plays a young man in the court of Queen Victoria who is bade never to grow old by her majesty. So he doesn't. After a span of many lifetimes as a man, Orlando wakes up one day to discover he's become a woman. Swinton is stunning playing this character across the centuries and genders.

If a male-female switching Swinton wasn't enough for you, in TEKNOLUST she plays four separate characters. Her main character is Rosetta Stone, a scientist working to build forms of artificial life that are computer programs as well as living beings. Tilda then plays Rosetta's three "clones" named Ruby, Olive and Marine with the help of color coordinated outfits and wigs.

Exclusive Interview: Tilda Swinton for "Constantine"
It may be cold during the chilly Sundance Film Festival, but elegant Tilda Swinton remains in a perennially chirpy mood. No stranger to this mother of all Indie festivals in the thick of Utah's Park City, Swinton was here to promote Thumbsucker, one of two films in which she appears with Keanu Reeves, the other being Constantine.

The Nerve Interview: Tilda Swinton by Michael Martin - Nerve.com Screening Room
In the recent sci-fi drama Teknolust, Tilda Swinton played a bioengineer who created a line of robots that subsisted on human semen. The fact that she also played three of the robots should give you some sense of her ability: she can populate and command an entire film.

Great lens! She's a cool person, and an interesting actress. She was an excellent choice for both the White Witch and Orlando. I've lens-rolled you to my Vita Sackville-West lens, where Orlando is discussed.... Five stars!
