Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons
About a year ago, political journalism giant Tim Russert was talking about Wisdom of Our Fathers on a radio program I happened to catch. Russert had previously written a book about his father entitled Big Russ & Me, which prompted thousands of letters from sons and daughters who wanted to share stories about their own fathers. Those letters formed the basis for Russert's follow-up book. I gave copies of both books to my own dad for Father's Day last year. Regular viewers of Meet the Press were aware of Russert's huge devotion to his father, Big Russ, and his son, Luke. Father's day was very special to him. Tragically, on the Friday preceding Father's Day 2008, Tim Russert succumbed to an unexpected heart attack. My thoughts and prayers were with the Russert family on Father's Day, particularly Big Russ, who most certainly did not expect to outlive his son.
Father and Son: Lessons of Life
Tim Russert:
In the spring of 2004, I published a book about my father -- about the lessons I have learned from him, the way he has influenced me, and my enormous love and respect for this steady, hardworking, and modest man. 'Big Russ & Me' came out in May, and my publisher sent me on a publicity tour in the hope that people around the country would see the book as an ideal Father's Day gift.

I really liked Tim Russert. He will be missed. The sad thing is that I believe his health problems would not have lead to his early death if he took fish oil addressed his health problems from not just a Western medicine approach, but also from a holistic approach. Posted June 27, 2008 |
