The Timberland Company started in 1918 with its shoemaking career in Boston, but when the company was found not known very well as a brand name, it was 1973 when Timberland introduced waterproof leather boots and because of the boots proven very popular in market the company name was officially changed from Timberland to Timberland Company.

Since Timberland Company introduces as trademark it tailored variety of casual wears and outfits but primarily Boots are manufactured at top priority and with finest quality. According to company history, in boots product line Timberland first tailored waterproof leather boats which comes in factor of Timberland's brand name,  In 1978 and 1979  company first time introduced casual and boat shoes in their extensive range of  boots product line, later after 1980 Timberland company expanded its business globally first in Italian markets and later to other countries. Also in the developing era Timberland added backpack, watches, and kids footwear throughout 1990s. In 1998 Timberland PRO launched for further expanding its lifestyle market these PRO's normally used as Woorkboots by professionals and recently on April 26, 2007 skateboard footwear company "Ipath" is also acquired by Timberland to expand its product line for Boots.

Although Timberland Boots are worn as primary element of fashion and for mountain climbing and hiking which are getting popularity from African-American, West Indian and Latin youths in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut areas.
